Based on the new fish collection, the distribution range of the European bitterling, Rhodeus amarus (Bloch, 1782), is extended to a new basin (Urmia) in northwestern Iran.

Some aspects of the reproductive biology of Garra rufa Heckel, 1843, a native cyprinid fish species from the Armand stream in Chaharmahal-o-Bakhtiari province, central Iran, were investigated by regular monthly collections throughout 1 year. A significant relationship between length and weight and the isometric growth pattern were observed in this fish. There were no significant differences in the total number of male and female specimens. The population of this cyprinid fish had a narrow age range of 0-4 years, and the maximum number of samples belonged to the age group of 2.01-3 years. Based on the patterns of gonadosomatic and …

The rotifer fauna of Iran is poorly known. This comprehensive study presents the results of an investigation of rotifers sampled in 51 freshwater sites of Tehran and neighboring provinces of Iran, from May 2006 to May 2007. Of the 115 species identified, 72 from 19 genera and 5 families are new for the fauna of Iran. Including the present records, the number of known Iranian rotifers has now reached 143. Additional records of Staphylinidae species from Turkey, Syria, and Iran are presented, including the first country records of Proteinus laevigatus Hochhuth, 1872 from Turkey, Astenus melanurus (Küster, 1853), and Luzea nigritula (Kraatz, 1857) from Syria, and Astenus procerus (Gravenhorst, 1806) from Iran.

Lecanid Rotifers (Rotifera: Monogononta: Lecanidae) From Iran, Esmat Khaleqsefat, Shahrokh Pashaei Rad, Reza Malekzadeh Viayeh

Rotifer diversity was investigated in 26 bodies of water in northwest Iran. Thirteen species of Lecanidae were identified, 6 of which are new records for Iran. The new records include Lecane flexilis (Gosse 1886), L. hamata (Stokes 1896), L. hastata (Murray 1913), L. lamellata (Daday 1893), L. papuana (Murray 1913), and L. punctata (Murray 1913). Drawings are provided, and both the seasonal and spatial distributions of the identified taxa are discussed. A brief comparison is made between the present study's results and those reported from Turkey.

New Records Of Two Cheyletid Mite Species (Acari: Cheyletidae) From Iran, Sali̇h Doğan, Mahdi Jalaeian, Hashem Kamali

Two species of the family Cheyletidae (Acari: Prostigmata), Cheletonella vespertilionis Womersley and Cheyletus kuznetzovi Bochkov and Khaustov, are given as new records for the Iranian fauna. This is also the first report of the genus Cheletonella Womersley from Iran.
