Freshwater ecosystems have a greater value for biodiversity per surface area than terrestrial and marine ecosystems. Streams and lakes are notably prone to biodiversity loss, being the greatest threats habitat destructions and nonnative species. The aim of the present study is to assess the fish composition of lotic and lentic water systems of an island ecosystem (Gökçeada Island, Turkey), which is poorly studied, and to highlight the entry routes and possible impacts of translocated fish species in an island ecosystem. The field surveys were conducted in a total of 14 sampling sites (five reservoirs and nine streams) in the inland …
A Taxonomic Study On The Families Lecanidae And Lepadellidae (Rotifera: Monogononta) Of Turkey And Three New Records For Turkish Inland Waters, Ahmet Bozkurt
Turkish Journal of Zoology
In this study, 39 rotifer species from the families Lecanidae and Lepadellidae were identified after examination of samples collected from 47 different localities in Turkey. Lecane acanthinula, L. thalera, and L. unguitata are new records for the Turkish rotifer fauna.

Rotifera And Cladocera Fauna Of Several Lakes From The Central Anatolia,Marmara, And Western Black Sea Regions Of Turkey, Mehmet Borga Ergönül, Sercan Erdoğan, Ahmet Altindağ, Si̇bel Atasağun
Turkish Journal of Zoology
In this study a total of 18 lakes from the Central Anatolia, Marmara, and Western Black Sea regions of Turkey were investigated along with their physicochemical parameters. Thirty-six species of Rotifera and 6 species of Cladocera were recorded. Keratella tecta, K. cochlearis, Polyarthra dolichoptera, and P. vulgaris were the most common Rotifera species and Bosmina longirostris was the most common Cladocera species among the sampling stations. The Brachionus/Trichocerca (QB/T) index was also calculated where applicable. The depth of the water bodies ranged between 2.5 and 62 m, Secchi depth between 0.1 and 6.2 m, water temperature between 19.1 and 29.1 …
First Record Of Eudiaptomus Gracilis (G.O. Sars, 1863) (Copepoda: Diaptomida) In The Inland Waters Of Turkey, Ahmet Bozkurt, Şenol Akin
First Record Of Eudiaptomus Gracilis (G.O. Sars, 1863) (Copepoda: Diaptomida) In The Inland Waters Of Turkey, Ahmet Bozkurt, Şenol Akin
Turkish Journal of Zoology
The Calanoid copepod Eudiaptomus gracilis (G.O. Sars, 1863) is recorded from Turkish inland waters for the first time. Males and females of Eudiaptomus gracilis were consistently found during 6 sampling periods in the Yeşilırmak River. The species was collected from the Yeşilırmak River and Suat Uğurlu and Hasan Uğurlu dam lakes in the Black Sea region and detailed descriptions of both sexes are given.

In a book chapter containing the first checklist and distribution of Turkish rotifers, published in 1999, were listed 167 taxa. The second checklist, published in 2004, reported 229 rotifer taxa in Turkey. During the 7 years since this checklist process, many studies have been carried out and we have prepared a new checklist of Turkish rotifers in the present study. In all, 341 rotifer taxa have been recorded to date.

The Ostracoda (Crustacea) Fauna Of Lakes Erikli, Hamam, Mert, Pedina And Saka (İğneada, Kırklareli, Turkey), Selçuk Altinsaçli
Turkish Journal of Zoology
This study was performed at Lakes Erikli, Hamam, Mert, Pedina and Saka (İğneda, Kırklareli) in 1999. Materials collected seasonally from the 20 stations were evaluated. The 24 species (Candona neglecta, Fabaeformiscandona fabaeformis, Pseudocandona compressa, Pseudocandona hartwigi, Pseudocandona marchica, Candonopsis kingsleii, Cypria ophtalmica, Physocypria kraepelini, Ilyocypris biplicata, Ilyocypris monstrifica, Cypris bispinosa, Eucypris inflata, Eucypris virens, Psychrodromus olivaceus, Heterocypris incongruens, Heterocypris salina, Cyprinotus inaequivalvis, Cypridopsis vidua, Limnocythere inopinata, Limnocythere stationis, Cyprideis torosa, Callistocythere diffusa, Pontocythere bacescoi and Urocythereis margaritifera) belonging to 18 genera were recorded. Three of them (Pseudocandona hartwigi, Ilyocypris monstrifica and Limnocythere stationis) are new records for the Ostracoda fauna …
