The First Annotated Checklist Of Mayflies (Ephemeroptera: Insecta) Of Georgia With New Distribution Data And A New Record For The Country, Sophio Gabelashvili, Levan Mumladze, Ani Bikashvili, Pavel Sroka, Roman J. Godunko, Bella Japoshvili

Turkish Journal of Zoology

The first comprehensive checklist of mayflies (Ephemeroptera) of Georgia is provided based on literature data supplemented by our unpublished data, including extensive samples in 2013-2017, works with the collections and types, faunistic observations, and taxonomical contributions. Records of 75 species are provided, with one species reported as a new finding for the country. Notes about the taxonomic status of several species are given. The present contribution represents the first publication of this kind for mayflies within the whole Caucasus area.

Spatial And Temporal Distribution Of Aquatic Insects In The Dicle (Tigris) River Basin, Turkey, With New Records, Fatma Çeti̇nkaya, Aysel Bekleyen Jan 2017

Spatial And Temporal Distribution Of Aquatic Insects In The Dicle (Tigris) River Basin, Turkey, With New Records, Fatma Çeti̇nkaya, Aysel Bekleyen

Turkish Journal of Zoology

We investigated insects of the Dicle (Tigris) River Basin in terms of their composition and spatiotemporal distribution. Larvae, pupae, pupal exuviae, and nymphs of insects were obtained from samples collected by a plankton net monthly during a 1-year period in 2008 and 2009 at seven different sites of the Dicle (Tigris) River Basin. A total of 35 taxa from the orders Trichoptera (1 taxon), Ephemeroptera (3 taxa), and Diptera (31 taxa) were identified. Chironomidae (Diptera) was the most diverse group and was represented by three major subfamilies, namely Tanypodinae (2 taxa), Orthocladiinae (19 taxa), and Chironominae (7 taxa). Among these …

Species Records Of Ephemeroptera (Insecta) Nymphs In The Gediz River Basin With A New Record For The Turkish Fauna: Labiobaetis Atrebatinus Eaton, 1870, Caner Aydinli, Nesi̇l Ertorun Jan 2015

Species Records Of Ephemeroptera (Insecta) Nymphs In The Gediz River Basin With A New Record For The Turkish Fauna: Labiobaetis Atrebatinus Eaton, 1870, Caner Aydinli, Nesi̇l Ertorun

Turkish Journal of Zoology

In this study, 3801 Ephemeroptera specimens were collected and identified from the Gediz River basin (Kütahya, Manisa, Uşak, and İzmir provinces) during 2011-2012. Twenty-three taxa belonging to 14 genera from 5 families were determined. All identified species from Uşak, Manisa, and İzmir and the 4 identified species from Kütahya are new records for the mentioned provinces. Moreover, Labiobaetis atrebatinus Eaton, 1870 is a new record for the Turkish Ephemeroptera fauna. As a result of this study, the number of the identified Ephemeroptera species from Turkey has increased to 147.

Turkish Journal of Zoology

This work is a contribution to the knowledge of the Ephemeroptera (Insecta) fauna of the central Balkan Peninsula. A total of 85 mayfly species (31 genera and 12 families) were reported. The largest number of mayfly species was recorded within the Ju?na and Zapadna Morava river basins, while the lowest taxa richness was observed within the Sava basin. The highest diversity was observed in hilly mountainous regions due to the general environmental requirements of the majority of mayfly taxa, as well as the distribution of anthropogenic stress. Lowland areas have been more exposed to different stress factors that could reduce …
