A New Species And Additional Record Of Terellia Robineau-Desvoidy(Diptera: Tephritidae) From Turkey With A Key For The Cerajocera Group, Mehmet Yaran, Murat Kütük, Vedat Görmez, Mürşi̇t Ömür Koyuncu

Turkish Journal of Zoology

Genus Terellia Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 includes approximately 60 species throughout the Palearctic region. Larvae of Terellia develop in the flowerheads of the family Asteraceae. In this study, the authors collected species of Terellia from possible host plants in the summer of 2009 and 2017 in northeastern Turkey using an insect net. Collected materials were pinned and deposited in the Gaziantep University Entomology Laboratory. Upon identification, Terellia (Cerajocera) akguli sp. nov. has been described as a new species and placed in the subgenus Cerajocera. Also, T. (C.) armeniaca Korneyev, 1985 has been recorded for the first time in Turkey with this study. …

Turkish Journal of Zoology

In 2015 and 2016, the occurrence of the tribe Chelonini (Braconidae, Cheloninae) in the province of Hamadan (western Iran) was surveyed using malaise traps. In total, 12 species were discovered. Chelonus (C.) olgae Kokujev, 1895 is new to the fauna of Iran and one species, Chelonus (Microchelonus) subpamiricus Farahani & van Achterberg sp. nov., is new to science. The diagnostic characters and supplementary illustrations of the newly recorded species are provided.

Spalax Denizliensis Sp. Nov. (Spalacidae, Rodentia) From An Early Pleistocene-Aged Locality In The Denizli Basin (Southwestern Turkey), Hüseyi̇n Erten Jan 2018

Spalax Denizliensis Sp. Nov. (Spalacidae, Rodentia) From An Early Pleistocene-Aged Locality In The Denizli Basin (Southwestern Turkey), Hüseyi̇n Erten

Turkish Journal of Zoology

It is thought that Spalacidae (Rodentia, Mammalia) originated in Anatolia. They are widespread among Neogene-aged faunas in Anatolia and they are used as zonal fossils because of their strong evolutionary dynamics. Only one fossil species (S. odessanus, Middle Pliocene) has been identified from the genus Spalax, which has more than 14 species presently. There are no fossil findings of this genus in Anatolia. Early Pleistocene-aged Spalax denizliensis sp. nov. from the Denizli Basin is the youngest fossil Spalax species and it will be helpful to understand the evolution of recent Spalax species.

A New Gammaridean Amphipod From The Lake District Region Of Turkey: Gammarus Deryae Sp. Nov., Murat Özbek Jan 2018

A New Gammaridean Amphipod From The Lake District Region Of Turkey: Gammarus Deryae Sp. Nov., Murat Özbek

Turkish Journal of Zoology

In order to determine the distribution and composition of freshwater amphipod species of the Lake District Region of Turkey, detailed samplings were conducted between 1998 and 2001. Among these materials, those from Pınar Pazarı and Yukarı Gökdere villages (Isparta Province, Turkey) were studied in the present study. Because of having different character combinations, the author believes that they belong to a new species, Gammarus deryae sp. nov. The new species is a typical member of the Gammarus pulex-group having setose third and fourth pereopod and uropod 3 where dense plumose setae exist. Elevated urosomal segments and sharply pointed third epimeral …

Anoplodactylus is the largest and the most abundant genus of Phoxichilidiidae, with 134 described species, most from shallow waters. The genus is cosmopolitan and easily encountered in Brazil. The present work catalogues the species of Anoplodactylus found in Brazilian waters and describes two new species for the coast of northeastern Brazil. The material analyzed here was deposited in the Invertebrate Collection Paulo Young, which comprises the specimens collected for several studies along the Brazilian coast. Unsampled species were recorded from the literature. We extend the known records of seven species (A. batangensis, A. californicus, A. eroticus, A. evelinae, A. insignis, …

The so far unknown instars of Mesoplophora (Mesoplophora) invisitata Niedbala, 1983: larva, proto-, deuto-, and tritonymph are described. The deutonymph and tritonymph of M. (M.) invisitata are compared with the corresponding stages of the related species. The tritonymph of the species of both subgenera, Mesoplophora and …
