A Survey On Infection Of Turcinoemacheilus Kosswigi, First Record Of The Genus Procamallanus (Nematoda: Camallanidae) From Iran, Fatemeh Tajbakhsh, Kiavash Golzarianpour, Asghar Abdoli

Turkish Journal of Zoology

The present study was conducted to identify the parasitic infection of the nemacheilid loach, Turcinoemacheilus kosswigi, in 5 rivers of the Tigris basin in Iran, from July 2007 to August 2008. Extracted from 43 fish specimens were 3 parasitic species: metacercaria of Posthodiplostomum cuticola (Digenea: Diplostomatidae) in the skin, fins, gills, and muscles; Allocreadium sp. (Digenea: Allocreadidae) and Procamallanus sp. (Nematoda: Camallanidae) in the intestine. Prevalence and mean intensity of parasitic infection were: 100%, 33 for the river Khoramroud; 12.5%, 1 for the river Hana; 50%, 1 for the river Kakareza; and 16.6%, 1 for the river Shalamzar. Specimens of …

On The Life History Of Spirlin Alburnoides Bipunctatus (Bloch, 1782) In The Qanat Of Uzineh, Northern Iran, Rahman Patimar, Mohsen Zare, Mehdi Hesam

Turkish Journal of Zoology

Within the wide distribution of spirlin in Iran, populations of this species inhabit a great variety of habitats, including qanats. We hypothesized that qanats may contribute to habitat-specific variation in the life history of the fish. To test this, a total of 240 specimens of Alburnoides bipunctatus, caught in the qanat of Uzineh (northern Iran) from October 2007 to August 2008, were examined for life history attributes. The population had a 5-year life cycle. The weight-length relationship (WLR) was estimated as W = 0.0068TL^{3.2559} for males, W = 0.0079TL^{3.2067} for females, and W = 0.0072TL^{3.2387} for the population, having a …

First Record Of The Genus Trichopsomyia Williston, 1888 (Diptera: Syrphidae) From Iran, Samad Khaghaninia, Abbas Shakeryari, Rüstem Hayat Jan 2012

First Record Of The Genus Trichopsomyia Williston, 1888 (Diptera: Syrphidae) From Iran, Samad Khaghaninia, Abbas Shakeryari, Rüstem Hayat

Turkish Journal of Zoology

The genus Trichopsomyia Williston, 1888 is recorded for the first time from Iran. Trichopsomyia flavitarsis (Meigen, 1822) and T. lucida (Meigen, 1822) were determined based on the material collected from a wetland in Aynali forests in 2010. A key to the species of the genus in northwestern Iran is prepared and photographs of the specimens are provided.

A Survey Of The Perigrapha Lederer (Lepidoptera, Noctuidae, Hadeninae) Species Of Iran, Asghar Shirvani, Mohammad Ali Shoghali, Shamsi Feizpoor

Turkish Journal of Zoology

Four species of the genus Perigrapha Lederer are reviewed in Iran. Two species, P. annau Varga & Ronkay, 1991 and P. flora Hreblay, 1996, are reported for the first time from the fauna of Iran. Adult and genitalia images are illustrated and identification keys for the external and genital features are given.

Turkish Journal of Zoology

Neoechinorhynchus zabensis Amin, Abdullah, and Mhaisen, 2003 was described from Capoeta damascina (Valenciennes, 1842) and Capoeta trutta (Heckel, 1843) in the Greater and Lesser Zab rivers of northern Iraq. It is reported here from C. trutta in the Dez River, Iran, and from Capoeta barroisi Lortet, 1894 (new host record) in the Murat River, Turkey (both are new locality records). Neoechinorhynchus zabensis appears to be restricted to the Tigris-Euphrates basin in Iraq, Turkey, and Iran, where it infects native fishes of the genus Capoeta Valenciennes in Cuvier and Valenciennes, 1842 (Cyprinidae). Other fishes of the same genus from nearby river …

Redescription Of Mesobuthus Vesiculatus (Pocock, 1899) (Scorpiones: Buthidae) Based On Specimens From Iran, Ayşegül Karataş, Muhammed Mouradi Gharkheloo

Turkish Journal of Zoology

The scorpion Mesobuthus vesiculatus (Pocock, 1899) was briefly described from northwestern Iran based on only one male with a picture indicating the dorsal habitus of the holotype; the author pointed out that it has a large and globular telson with a short aculeus. This species, with very distinct morphological features, is now redescribed based on new specimens (3 males, 3 females) collected from West Azerbaijan and East Azerbaijan (Iran). Detailed figures and measurements are presented and the trichobotrial pattern and paraxial organ are illustrated for the first time. The morphological differences of M. vesiculatus from similar species M. caucasicus, M. …
