Herpetofauna Of The Vicinity Of Akşehir And Eber (Konya, Afyon), Turkey, Durmuş Ci̇han, Cemal Varol Tok

Turkish Journal of Zoology

In this research, 29 species of 11 amphibian and reptile families were detected in the endorheic basin of Akşehir and Eber. Of these species, 5 are anurans, 1 is a tortoise, 1 is a turtle, 9 are lizards, and 13 are snakes. In addition, the chorotype classification of the species recorded in the study area and their distributions depending on plants are also provided. It was established that specimens of subspecies Ophisops elegans macrodactylus and O. e. centralanatolia were sympatrically found in the vicinity of Ortaköy and Tuzlukçu. Moreover, in addition to the species determined in previous studies, Platyceps najadum …

Taxonomy, Distribution, And Ecology Of Crustacean Zooplankton In Trough Waters Of Ankara (Turkey), Eli̇f Başak, Cem Aygen, Okan Külköylüoğlu

Turkish Journal of Zoology

Troughs are one of the main components of villages in Turkey. They are constructed by converting springs or underground waters. Until now, there has been no extensive study investigating the composition and diversity of trough zooplankton species. In order to contribute knowledge on the zooplanktons in troughs, 142 troughs were randomly sampled from 17 districts in Ankara Province between 22 June and 3 July 2011. A total of 18 zooplanktons including 11 Copepoda and 7 Cladocera species were determined. Twelve of the 18 (Paracyclops chiltoni, Paracylops fimbriatus, Paracyclops imminutus, Tropocyclops prasinus, Diacyclops bisetosus, Acanthocyclops vernalis, Canthocamptus staphylinus, Attheyella crassa, Bryocamptus …

The Jumping Plant-Lice (Hemiptera: Psylloidea) Of Turkey: A Checklist And New Records, Jowita Drohojowska, Daniel Burckhardt Jan 2014

The Jumping Plant-Lice (Hemiptera: Psylloidea) Of Turkey: A Checklist And New Records, Jowita Drohojowska, Daniel Burckhardt

Turkish Journal of Zoology

A checklist is provided for the Turkish Psylloidea comprising 99 species, of which 1 is doubtful (Livia crefeldensis) and 6 are recorded for the first time from Turkey (Rhodochlanis bicolor, Euphyllura pakistanica, Camarotoscena lauta, Syntomoza unicolor, Baeopelma colorata, and Spanioneura persica). A key is provided for the 3 Spanioneura species associated with Prunus dulcis. Spanioneura pechai (Klimaszewski and Lodos) stat. rev. is removed from synonymy with S. turkiana.

The Northernmost European Record Of Parasetodes Respersellus (Trichoptera: Leptoceridae) From The Courish Spit (Russia) With Notes On Its Distribution And Imaginal Morphology, Edyta Buczynska, Anatoly P. Shapoval, Pawel Buczynski Jan 2014

The Northernmost European Record Of Parasetodes Respersellus (Trichoptera: Leptoceridae) From The Courish Spit (Russia) With Notes On Its Distribution And Imaginal Morphology, Edyta Buczynska, Anatoly P. Shapoval, Pawel Buczynski

Turkish Journal of Zoology

Parasetodes respersellus (Rambur, 1842) is the only representative of its genus in Europe. So far, it has been reported in 6 countries (24 sites), and 3 of the reports come from the 1960s and from earlier historical references. Between 24 and 28 August 2011 a male and a female of this species were attracted to a light trap in the Courish Spit (Russia). The paper presents the following topics concerning this species: the distribution area and the status of existing records in particular countries, considerations about the potential breeding site of the collected specimens, remarks on the origins of a …

Turkish Journal of Zoology

Mymar taprobanicum (Ward) (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea: Mymaridae) is reported for the first time from Iran. Four female specimens were collected in a Malaise trap set up in a rice field in Guilan Province during the summer of 2012.

Checklist Of Sipuncula From The Coasts Of Turkey, Şermi̇n Açik Çinar

Turkish Journal of Zoology

The present paper provides an updated taxonomic list of sipunculan species known from the coasts of Turkey. A total of 21 species belonging to 5 families have been reported from the region. Eighteen species were determined in the Levantine Sea, 17 species in the Aegean Sea, 6 species in the Sea of Marmara, and a single species in the Black Sea. The family Golfingiidae had the majority of species (8 species, 38%), followed by Phascolosomatidae (5 species, 24%), Aspidosiphonidae (4 species, 19%), Phascolionidae (3 species, 14%), and Sipunculidae (1 species, 5%), respectively. The hotspot areas for the sipunculan species richness …

Preliminary Study On Distribution, Diversity, And Ecological Characteristics Of Nonmarine Ostracoda (Crustacea) From The Erzincan Region (Turkey), Derya Akdemi̇r, Okan Külköylüoğlu Jan 2014

Preliminary Study On Distribution, Diversity, And Ecological Characteristics Of Nonmarine Ostracoda (Crustacea) From The Erzincan Region (Turkey), Derya Akdemi̇r, Okan Külköylüoğlu

Turkish Journal of Zoology

Ecological characteristics of 32 nonmarine ostracod taxa collected from 89 aquatic habitats of Erzincan (Turkey) during the summer of 2006 were evaluated. All of the species are new reports for the area, while Cypria sywulae Meisch, 2000 is a new record for the Turkish ostracod fauna. The first 2 axes of canonical correspondence analysis explain 74.1% of the variance between 15 species and 5 environmental variables. The influence of water temperature on species distribution was significantly higher (P = 0.02) than that of the other ecological factors. The most frequently occurring species were clustered into 3 main groups based on …
