Effects Of Temperature And Substrate On Growth And Survival Of Penaeus Semisulcatus (Decapoda: Penaeidae) Postlarvae, Meti̇n Kumlu, O. Tufan Eroldoğan

Turkish Journal of Zoology

This study was carried out to determine the optimal water temperature and to investigate the effects of additional substrate on growth and survival during the nursery culturing of Penaeus semisulcatus in two separate experiments. At the end of six weeks, survivals of postlarvae (PLs) at 22, 24, 26, 30 and 34¡C were 52, 46, 70, 30 and 40%, respectively. The highest (2.76 mm/week) and lowest growth rates in terms of total length (0.43-0.49 mm/week) were displayed by the PLs grown at 34¡C and 22-24¡C, respectively. Growth rates were 1.75 mm/week at 30¡C and 1.03 mm/week at 26¡C. Final individual weight …

Growth Conditions And Stock Analysis Of The Carp (Cyprinus Carpio, Linnaeus 1758) Population In Gölhisar Lake, Ahmet Alp, Süleyman Balik Jan 2000

Growth Conditions And Stock Analysis Of The Carp (Cyprinus Carpio, Linnaeus 1758) Population In Gölhisar Lake, Ahmet Alp, Süleyman Balik

Turkish Journal of Zoology

In this study, growth in the carp population was investigated using samples caught with longline nets of different mesh sizes. Mortality rate and stock analysis were calculated by length frequency data taken from commercial fisheries. The age composition of the samples was from I to VI. The fork lengths were between 10.5 and 49.4 cm, the total weights were found to be between 20.19 and 1922.20 g. and condition factors ranged from 1.298 to 2.388. The total mortality rate (Z) was found to be 1.36±0.10, the natural mortality rate (M) was 0.35 and the fishing mortality rate (F) was 1.01. …

The Growth Characteristics Of Chondrostoma Regium (Heckel, 1843) In Atatürk Dam Lake (Turkey), S. Ahmet Oymak Jan 2000

The Growth Characteristics Of Chondrostoma Regium (Heckel, 1843) In Atatürk Dam Lake (Turkey), S. Ahmet Oymak

Turkish Journal of Zoology

In this study, growth characteristics including as age composition, condition factor, growth, and age-length, age-weight and length-weight relationships, in Chondrostoma regium (Heckel, 1843) living in Atatürk Dam Lake on the Euphrates River were determined. A total of 725 specimens of age groups I-VIII were investigated. The length of females and males was found statistically different only in age group III, while the weights were statistically different in age groups III and IV (P
