Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP) infection in camel requires extensive research, particularly the immune responses in the intestine. This study aimed to investigate the nature of the cellular populations that are driven by the immunopathological responses in the camel intestine infected with MAP at different ages. Immunohistochemical staining was carried out on tissues obtained from naturally infected young (5-10 years old) and older (12-15 years old) camels. The staining of the tissues, ileum, mesenteric lymph node, jejunum, and supramammary lymph nodes, with anti-CD3$^{+}$, CD4$^{+}$, CD8$^{+}$, CD25$^{+}$, CD11c$^{+}$, CD14$^{+}$, WC1$^{+}$, CX3CR1, and Madcam-1 monoclonal antibodies revealed high expression of the molecules …

Antibody Detection Against Akabane (Aka) And Bluetongue (Bt) Viruses In Algeriandromedary Camels, Radhwane Saidi, Firat Doğan, Veysel Soydal Ataseven, Yaşar Ergün

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

In this study, blood samples collected from dromedary camels in the Algerian provinces of Laghouat and Ghardaia, which were kept in the same pastures and in the same herds with sheep and goats, were examined to detect antibodies to the Bluetongue (BT) and Akabane (AKA) viruses using enzyme linked immunosorbent assay and serum neutralization tests, respectively. Overall, 16 (14.4%) and 2 (1.8%) of 111 tested camel serum samples were seropositive for the BT virus (BTV) and the AKA virus (AKAV), respectively. The present study determined that BTV infection was prevalent in camels in Algeria, and antibodies to the AKAV were …

Detection Of Trypanosoma Evansi In Camel Abortions (Camelus Dromedarius) In Iran Using Polymerase Chain Reaction, Mohammadreza Nazem, Maryam Karimidehkordi, Mehran Farhoodi Moghadam Jan 2020

Detection Of Trypanosoma Evansi In Camel Abortions (Camelus Dromedarius) In Iran Using Polymerase Chain Reaction, Mohammadreza Nazem, Maryam Karimidehkordi, Mehran Farhoodi Moghadam

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

Trypanosoma evansi is a blood parasite protozoan that causes trypanosomiasis or surra in a variety of economically valued animals such as cattle and camels. This infection causes abortion in camels. The present study was conducted to evaluate the presence of Trypanosoma evansi in aborted fetuses of Iranian camels (Camelus dromedarius) by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method. In this study, 244 abomasal contents of aborted fetuses were collected from an Iranian camel herd in the east of Iran. The results showed that 41 of 244 (16.8%) aborted fetuses were infected with Trypanosoma evansi DNA. The results showed that a high percentage …
