A true gift is a joy to give and a pleasure to receive. Such a gift doesn't just happen, it grows. It takes thought and planning. Then it takes some doing. Gifts made at home will not stretch the purse strings too far, and they can be hand-tailored to the friend. The best gift may not be wrapped in tissue and ribbon-it might be an invitation to a Christmas tea party. Thinking of others will make Christmas the most joyous season of the year-as it should be.

Dropping pits or "roosting racks" have become popular with the poultry raisers wherever they have been used. Many folks have replaced their roosts with dropping pits. People with old barns, hog houses or other buildings that have -been remodeled into a poultry laying house have asked for information on constructing dropping pits. Folks who have used the pit type roost cite the following advantages: Labor saving, Aids sanitation, Keeps the eggs cleaner, Helps to keep the litter dry, provides a good place for hens to rest, May save some eggs.

Windows let sunshine and beauty into rooms, just as the eyes let light and joy into the soul. Windows should be allowed to serve their purpose and not be overloaded with curtains and draperies. They should be decorated to create a restful and cheerful atmosphere within the room. The best treatment depends on the size, shape, and arrangement of the windows, as well as the general characteristic of the room and its surroundings.
