This enterprise budget contains costs (preplant and site preparation, establishment and maintenance, and harvest and processing) and returns for the production and sale of peony cut flowers that were grown in a field (14 feet by 42 feet, the size of one high tunnel for comparison). Peonies are a perennial crop that require at least three years for establishment and produce in years 4-20. The costs are representative, but should be adjusted where necessary for individual situations. The net income resulting from stems sold at a price of $5.00 per high-quality stem (100% sold) and $2.00 per low quality stem …

A carbon budget for the northwest European continental shelf seas (NWES) was synthesized using available estimates for coastal, pelagic and benthic carbon stocks and flows. Key uncertainties were identified and the effect of future impacts on the carbon budget were assessed. The water of the shelf seas contains between 210 and 230 Tmol of carbon and absorbs between 1.3 and 3.3 Tmol …

Coral reef net ecosystem calcification (NEC) has decreased for many Caribbean reefs over recent decades primarily due to changes in benthic community composition. Chemistry-based approaches to calculate NEC utilize the drawdown of seawater total alkalinity (TA) combined with residence time to calculate an instantaneous measurement of NEC. Census-based approaches combine annual growth rates with benthic cover and reef structural complexity to estimate NEC occurring over annual timescales. Here, NEC was calculated for Hog Reef in Bermuda using both chemistry and census-based NEC techniques to compare the mass-balance generated by the two methods and identify the dominant biocalcifiers at Hog Reef. …

Money Matters: Exploring The Financial Resources For Sports Medicine Programs In Public And Private Secondary Schools--A Qualitative Study, Natalie Mercedes Aviles Flores
Money Matters: Exploring The Financial Resources For Sports Medicine Programs In Public And Private Secondary Schools--A Qualitative Study, Natalie Mercedes Aviles Flores
UNLV Theses, Dissertations, Professional Papers, and Capstones
Context: Institutional funding and strained school budgets are a barrier to placing certified athletic trainers (ATCs) in secondary schools. The size and location of a school appear to be coinciding limitations (Mazerolle et al, 2015), but what is lacking in the literature is an
evaluation of how schools manage to provide adequate medical coverage. Resources are available, but there is question as to whether these schools consider or even utilize them.
Objective: The aim of this qualitative study is to explore the funding techniques and budget sources of high school athletic training clinics from the perspective of both private and …

Nutrition And Exercise Plan For College Students, Rachel Walny
Nutrition And Exercise Plan For College Students, Rachel Walny
Honors Projects
This is a website designed to help college students lead a healthy and active lifestyle. Many students are unaware of the exercise and nutrition recommendations for adults and have not been in the practice of living on their own and cooking their own meals. It can also be difficult for college students to find time to exercise and eat healthy due to their busy schedules. This source is meant to take some of the planning and questioning out of the process and provide students with a resource that can guide them them in reaching their exercise and nutritional goals.

Pilot Study Of A Budget-Tailored Culinary Nutrition Education Program For Undergraduate Food Science Students, Dorothy Kerrison
Pilot Study Of A Budget-Tailored Culinary Nutrition Education Program For Undergraduate Food Science Students, Dorothy Kerrison
All Theses
The primary objective of this pilot study is to provide evidence that a budget-tailored culinary nutrition program is both appropriate and applicable to undergraduate food science students both in everyday life as well as their future health careers. Two validated programs were combined into one program in order to evaluate their combined effects: Cooking With a Chef and Cooking Matters at the Store. The secondary objective of this pilot study is to evaluate the components and reliability of a questionnaire created specifically for this pilot study. A review of past literature was written, which included culinary nutrition as a source …

Organic Replacement Heifer Enterprise Budget For Walker Dairy, Colton Brodt
Organic Replacement Heifer Enterprise Budget For Walker Dairy, Colton Brodt
Agribusiness
This study was undertaken to determine if Walker Dairy could raise replacement heifers cheaper than the current market price.
The main objective of this report was to calculate how much it costs Walker Dairy to raise a heifer per head. Data collected went into the development of a heifer enterprise budget and determining an average market price. Transfer value in (drop calf price), feed, labor, operating and fixed costs were all factored into the total cost per animal. Also, the data was broken into four different sections of a heifers’ life to aid management in evaluating the cost of raising …

Faculty of Science - Papers (Archive)
We investigate the Australian methane budget from 2005-2008 using the GEOS-Chem 3D chemistry transport model, focusing on the relative contribution of emissions from different sectors and the influence of long-range transport. To evaluate the model, we use in situ surface measurements of methane, methane dry air column average (XCH 4) from ground-based Fourier transform spectrometers (FTSs), and train-borne surface concentration measurements from an in situ FTS along the north-south continental transect. We use gravity anomaly data from Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment to describe the spatial and temporal distribution of wetland emissions and scale it to a prior emission estimate, …

We present a model study of carbon monoxide for 1988-1997 using the GEOS-Chem 3-D model driven by assimilated meteorological data, with time-varying emissions from biomass burning and from fossil fuel and industry, overhead ozone columns, and methane. The hydroxyl radical is calculated interactively using a chemical parameterization to capture chemical feedbacks. We document the inventory for fossil fuels/industry and discuss major uncertainties and the causes of differences with other inventories that give significantly lower emissions. We find that emissions hardly change from 1988 to 1997, as increases in Asia are offset by decreases elsewhere. The model reproduces the 20% decrease …

G93-1189 Developing Dairy Heifer Rearing Expenses, Jeffrey F. Keown
University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension: Historical Materials
This NebGuide discusses the pros and cons to consider as dairy producers evaluate raising their own replacement heifers or contracting with someone else to raise replacements.
Every successful dairy operation can account for most of the expenses that occur on the farm. But how many can actually cash flow each segment of the operation? Do you know how much it costs to raise your dairy heifers or what percentage of your total expenses can be directly attributed to the milking herd? Few producers spend much time attempting to cash flow or estimate costs of the various parts of the dairy …

Heg86-209 Farm And Ranch Family Living Expenses--Taking Control, Kathleen Prochaska-Cue
University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension: Historical Materials
This NebGuide describes how families with an irregular income can control living expenses through use of a budget and cash flow plan.
Although farm and ranch family living levels have improved and become more comparable to nonfarm families, there will always be some important differences between these families with respect to managing the family living expenses. Income is irregular for many farm and ranch families and, in the past few years, has been insufficient to maintain the farm/ranch and family at a reasonable level of living. This guide is designed to help the farm or ranch family take control of …

The Problem
Due to some unexpected event, you are behind on your bills and don't expect to be able to catch up in the next month or two. You may have lost your job, or have had large medical bills.
You make promises to pay you can't keep; checks bounce, or you receive threats from creditors (people to whom you owe money) that they will sue or turn the account over to a collection agency.

Heg83-177 Budgeting Systems When There Are Two Earners In The Household, Kathleen Prochaska-Cue
University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension: Historical Materials
This publication describes various ways of managing the income of two earners in the same household, including the advantages and disadvantages of each.
Two earners in the household pose additional problems for the money management system. Should each person have money that is not accountable to the other -- money that is one's own? How are the bills to be paid? Should they be divided down the middle with each spouse taking responsibility for separate items (one gets the mortgage, the other the car payment), or is one partner responsible for all the basics and the other for the frills? …
