Soon after becoming connected with the Station, the writer, from observations made in various parts of the State, was impressed with the necessity for investigation looking to the profitable disposal of the by-products of the dairy, both at the factory and on the farm. The common method at the factories seemed to be to feed hogs on milk or whey alone, and where grain was fed, it was only given to finish the hog for market.
