Fifty Years Of Achievement In Agricultural Investigation, R. T. Prescott
Fifty Years Of Achievement In Agricultural Investigation, R. T. Prescott
Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station: Historical Circulars
In Nebraska, a hustling frontier state in 1887, the legislature hesitated not at all in taking advantage of the provisions of the Hatch Act, and now that fifty years have elapsed since the Station was founded, seventy-five years since the Land Grant College Act was passed and the U. S. Department of Agriculture established, and almost twenty-five years since the Agricultural Extension Service was added, it seems worth while to present a general summary of achievement within the state. The main object will be to show some of the important things that have been learned through the investigations of the …
Studies Concerning The Elimination Of Experimental Error In Comparative Crop Tests, T. A. Kiesselbach
Studies Concerning The Elimination Of Experimental Error In Comparative Crop Tests, T. A. Kiesselbach
Historical Research Bulletins of the Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station
It is apparent that many sources of error have unconsciously entered into comparative crop yield tests. The very important matter of overcoming variation in soil conditions as a source of experimental error has been quite extensively studied and reported by various investigators during the past decade. The means suggested for reducing such error have been (1) repetition of plats and (2) correction of yields according to check plats planted to a uniform variety or treatment at stated intervals. Both methods have proved of value and a combination of both may often be used advantageously. Some danger always exists of error …
A Study Of The Vegetation Of Southeastern Washington And Adjacent Idaho, J. E. Weaver
A Study Of The Vegetation Of Southeastern Washington And Adjacent Idaho, J. E. Weaver
Papers from the University Studies series (University of Nebraska)
Noone at all botanically inclined can travel through southeastern Washington without being impressed with the marked changes which a distance of only a few miles may show in the vegetation. Traveling eastward from a point fifty miles west of the Idaho state line, one passes from a region of scab-land sagebrush through one of rolling hills covered with bunch-grasses. Upon steadily ascending the great Columbia Plateau, the 'bunchgrasses give way to well developed prairies, and these in turn, near the Idaho line, to forests of yellow pine, Douglas fir, white fir, tamarack, and cedar. Or starting from Spokane in the …

Report Of A Botanical Exploration Of The Sand-Hill Region Of Central Nebraska Made In The Summer Of 1893., Per Axel Rydberg
School of Biological Sciences: Dissertations, Theses, and Student Research
Rydberg (1860–1931) was born Sweden and emigrated to the United States in 1882, first to mining camps in upper Michigan and eventually to Wahoo, in Saunders County, Nebraska, where he taught mathematics from 1884 to 1893 at now defunct Luther Academy. In the summers of 1891-1893, 1895, and 1896 he was a field agent for the United States Department of Agriculture and collected plants in Nebraska, South Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, and Colorado, and specimens from those and other trips are in the Bessey Herbarium at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, which house what is now known as the Charles E. …
