Effects Of Girdling, Ga3 Applications And Additional Nutrient Applications On Fruit Yield, Fruit Set And Fruit Size In The Clementine Mandarin, Turgut Yeşi̇loğlu, Ebru Cücü Açikalin

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

In small fruit species, like the mandarin, fruit size is lower in Turkey than in other countries and this has a negative effect on their marketing. There are problems with fruit yield and size in the Clementine mandarin, which is a commonly grown mandarin cultivar in Turkey. To solve these problems, various studies have been carried out. Girdling is one of the methods studied and it had positive effects on fruit yield and size without lowering the fruit quality. However, fruit yield and fruit size were reduced to previous levels if the treatment was repeated over a long period. In …

Selection Of Promising Jojoba (Simmondsia Chinensis Link Schneider) Types In Terms Of Yield And Oil Content, Sali̇h Ülger, Özgür Akdeşi̇r, İbrahi̇m Baktir Jan 2002

Selection Of Promising Jojoba (Simmondsia Chinensis Link Schneider) Types In Terms Of Yield And Oil Content, Sali̇h Ülger, Özgür Akdeşi̇r, İbrahi̇m Baktir

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

This experiment was carried out to determine the yield and oil contents of jojoba populations that were derived from a base population raised from seed in Antalya between 1999 and 2001. In the first year 59 types were evaluated, and 19 promising types were determined. In the second and third years experiments were conducted on these 19 types. Chilling, insect and disease damage was not seen during the experiment periods. However, some plants were dead where water ponded after heavy rains. The mature seeds were hand collected after they fell onto the soil in September, and their yield and oil …

Environmental Effects On Yield And Agronomic Traits Of Common Bean (Phaseolus Vulgaris L.), Tadesse Mebrahtu, Teklu Andebrhan, Ali Mohamed Apr 2001

Environmental Effects On Yield And Agronomic Traits Of Common Bean (Phaseolus Vulgaris L.), Tadesse Mebrahtu, Teklu Andebrhan, Ali Mohamed

Virginia Journal of Science

Common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) demand is increasing with an alarming rate around the world, especially in Latin America, Africa, and Asia. Therefore, increase bean yield per hectare is the best way to meet the world demand rather than expansion of area under cultivation. The objectives of this experiment were to determine the genotypic variations for green bean and dry seed yield and magnitude of genotype x environment interaction effects on yield and yield components of common bean. Thirteen genotypes were planted during the 1992, 1994, and 1995 growing seasons. Genotypes were evaluated for green pod and seed …

Effects Of Different Levels Of Nitrogen On Some Characters Of Datura Collected From Samsun Environs, Enver Esendal, Kudret Kevseroğlu, Seli̇m Aytaç, Gülen Özyazici Jan 2000

Effects Of Different Levels Of Nitrogen On Some Characters Of Datura Collected From Samsun Environs, Enver Esendal, Kudret Kevseroğlu, Seli̇m Aytaç, Gülen Özyazici

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

Seeds of datura plants ( Datura stramonium L.) were collected from three different locations (Kurupelit, Vadiler Sitesi and Gelemen) and examined at different nitrogen levels (0, 50, 100, 150 and 200 kg N/ha) for two years (1993 and 1994) in the Kurupelit Campus area of O.M.U., Samsun, Black Sea coastal area. The field experiments were conducted in a split-plot randomized block design with three replications. The highest fresh and medicinal herb yields were obtained by application of 150 kg of nitrogen per hectare, and seed yield was increased by increased nitrogen application levels. Therefore, it may be necessary to test …
