In Nebraska, a hustling frontier state in 1887, the legislature hesitated not at all in taking advantage of the provisions of the Hatch Act, and now that fifty years have elapsed since the Station was founded, seventy-five years since the Land Grant College Act was passed and the U. S. Department of Agriculture established, and almost twenty-five years since the Agricultural Extension Service was added, it seems worth while to present a general summary of achievement within the state. Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station: Historical Circulars
It seems especially appropriate at this time to publish a history of the College of Agriculture of the University of Nebraska. The year 1922 marked the fiftieth anniversary of the formal establishment of the college by the Board of Regents, while the year 1924 marked the fiftieth anniversary of the enrollment of the first students in agricultural subjects. It is hoped and intended that this little volume shall preserve for the future much valuable material that would otherwise soon be forgotten.
