Comparative law is much more than “matching laws.” Professor Grossfield’s short, lively book will certainly awaken its German reader to the value, indeed necessity, of comparative law and comparative insights in his or her own practice or scholarly work. This, he aims at the skeptic who may think of comparative law or foreign legal systems as arcane and useless fluff, too luxurious for the hard working “practical-minded” practitioner. Professor Grossfield throws the cold water of realization into this skeptic’s face. This paper will explore some aspects of legal educaton in the context of the Norton Clapp Law Center, a new mid-city law school complex. The innovations in this Center will bring certain educational hazards, many of which are at the center of recent pedagogical discussions about law schools. This paper attempts to identify these hazards and contemplate ways to forestall them. I will not explore these issues as either a lawyer, an economist, a sociological or anthropological analyst. Rather, my observations will be those of a working psychiatric clinician who is a long-time member of a law faculty, and who …

Community Legal Workers At Parkdale Community Legal Services October 1977, Katie Mcgovern, Frederick H. Zemans

Since its opening in September 1971, Parkdale Community Legal Services has served as both a neighbourhood law office and as Osgoode Hall Law School's first clinical training setting. Law students have been the primary deliverers of legal.services, with a growing number of staff lawyers, articling students, and practitioners supervising the student caseload. But most law students spend only one semester at Parkdale; therefore the staff lawyers and especially the community legal workers must provide continuity within the office and serve as the conduit to the Parkdale community.
