David Meade Feild - A Personal Reminiscence, Edward E. Dorsey Jan 1968

David Meade Feild - A Personal Reminiscence, Edward E. Dorsey

Georgia Law Review

I FIRST met Meade Feild when I was a member of the Mercer University Law School Freshman Class of 1989. That class quickly made a reputation at the School as being a "good" class, and it is not immodest to say that the years have proved this evaluation to have been solid and accurate. We were all children of the depression, and not one of us was at law school without some sacrifice. We had seen, and were to see, hard times and bad times, but this is not to say that we were hard- bitten or in any way …

Some Personal Observations About Professor David Meade Feild, Edward W. Killorin

Georgia Law Review

IT is fitting that this Review should dedicate an issue to a man who is at his prime in a great career as Law Professor, rather than wait until all comments must be post mortem. It should not always be left for historians to distinguish the superlative. The D. Meade Feild I know would never permit an institutional convention such as "retirement for age" to end his career. It is heartening to learn that he will continue to preside over law classes after taking a change of venue from the Athens Division to the Macon Division of the Middle District …

D. Meade Feild, Sidney 0. Smith, Jr. Jan 1968

Truly the years of 1945-50 were exciting ones at Athens and those days of crowded classrooms, split sessions, and twelve months' operation produced a large number of graduates to fill the great need in the legal profession existing at the time. Many of that group now hold positions of leadership and responsibility (for better or worse!) in the bar, the courts, and government of the state. All were …

A Tribute To Professor D. Meade Feild, R. Perry Sentell, Jr. Jan 1968

A Tribute To Professor D. Meade Feild, R. Perry Sentell, Jr.

Georgia Law Review

T HE members of the Editorial Board pay me high honor in requesting that I contribute a few lines to this issue so appropriately dedicated to Professor David Meade Feid on the occasion of his retirement from teaching in the Law School. Professor Feid is a man of so many interesting facets, however, that one is awed by under- taking to meet such a request. Because attempting to write about him is a little like grasping at the wind (and, more practically, because I shall no doubt have to debate with him each statement that I make), I wish simply …
