BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Lectures on three phases of law -- practice, judicial interpretation, and teaching -- will provide a two-day program preceding the dedication Nov. 2 of the new law school building at Indiana University.
Addison C. Harris Lectures, a series provided from the estate of the late Indianapolis attorney, have been scheduled by the School of Law for the afternoon of Oct. 31 and on Nov. 1.
The University, it was announced Monday by Dean Leon H. Wallace, will confer honorary doctor of laws degrees at the convocation on Chief Justice Warren, Herman C. Krannert, board chairman of Inland …

No exact computation of the number of practicing attorneys who are members of legal fraternities is available. However, well over 120,000 law students have in the past 82 years affiliated with a legal fraternity-no account being taken of the numbers belonging to purely local societies. Since the great majority of these individuals have entered into the practice, it is apparent that the Survey of the Legal Profession would not be exhaustive without some reference to such organizations. Professional Greek-letter fraternities now exist in practically all conceivable fields from Animal Husbandry to Textile Arts. Their legal counterpart furnished the model.

Professor Sunderland addresses the pernicious involvement of legislators in legal reform, contrary to the English model. This duty should be left to those who know the Law better than any: "The courts constitute the judicial department of the state, and the judges who preside and the lawyers who practice in them are the selected group of trained men charged with the responsibility for administering the law."
