The author argues that it is necessary to use international law to prevent the illicit transfer of the cultural heritage of the nations of the world; utilizing the 1970 UNESCO Convention on the Means of Prohibiting and Preventing the Illicit Import, Export and Transfer of Ownership of Cultural Property; as well as other measures to accomplish this.

Irs Summons Issued At Canada's Request Enforceable Even Though Information Would Also Be Used For Criminal Prosecution Purposes In Canada, Ami Setright

Syracuse Journal of International Law and Commerce

The United States-Canada Tax Convention of 1942 requires each contracting state to furnish the other with information obtainable under the former's revenue laws insofar as the information may be of use to the requesting state in the assessment of taxes. This Recent Development analyzes the Second Circuit Court of Appeals' decision in United States v. Manufacturers and TradersTrust Co., in which the Tax Convention of 1942 was held to permit the transfer of information despite the fact that such information would also be used for criminal prosecution in the requesting nation.

American corporations have learned to live reasonably with, if not actually love, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Congress is currently being told that there are things that need correcting in the Act. Congress will eventually face these problems rather seriously so that a bill in some form will amend some of the things wrong with the Act. It is doubtful that any business person of good faith thinks there is anything wrong with the theses behind the Act. Business has learned, to its benefit, to live with the requirements of the Act.
