Ex Parte Communications: The Law And Practices At Six California Boards And Commissions, California Research Bureau, Charlene Wear Simmons
Ex Parte Communications: The Law And Practices At Six California Boards And Commissions, California Research Bureau, Charlene Wear Simmons
California Agencies
Ex parte communications are made in private between an interested party in a decision-making process and an official in a decision-making position. Because they can introduce an element of bias in a decision-making process and violate basic due process requirements, state law requires that the involved officials publicly disclose ex parte communications made during adjudicative proceedings. However the legal requirements and practices for rulemaking (or "quasi-legislative) proceedings vary for the six boards and commissions analyzed for this report, and the public disclosure process evidenced in their meeting minutes is uneven.

The California Land Conservation (Williamson) Act 2008 Status Report, California Department Of Conservation
California Agencies
The California Land Conservation Act, better known as the Williamson Act, has been the state’s premier agricultural land protection program since its enactment in 1965. The Williamson Act preserves agricultural and open space lands through property tax incentives and voluntary restrictive use contracts. Private landowners voluntarily restrict their land to agricultural and compatible open-space uses under minimum 10-year rolling term contracts with local governments. In return, restricted parcels are assessed for property tax purposes at a rate consistent with their actual use, rather than potential market value.

History And Influence Of Law Code Of Manu, Charles J. Naegele
History And Influence Of Law Code Of Manu, Charles J. Naegele
Theses and Dissertations
The current legal-historical majority view regarding the Law Code of Manu (Manusmriti) of Ancient India is that it was probably formulated by one man about 2100 years ago (100 BC) and its influence remained confined mostly to India and some parts of Southeast Asia; this view has not yet been revised, in spite of relatively recent scientific and archaeological research findings that appear to shed light upon a possible rethinking of this view. This dissertation explores a new theory that a possible ancient version of the Law Code of Manu (Manusmriti) was formulated and revised by more than one person, …
