School districts represent a large portion of the child care delivery system. They operate a mix of child care centers and programs, serve a range of children of different ages, and fund their programs from a variety of federal, state, and local sources. It is not uncommon that, at different times of the day, and in different classrooms, different regulatory standards apply. Professor Emeritus Allan Brotsky, a member of the faculty at Golden Gate University School of Law for nearly three decades and a luminary of the San Francisco Bay Area legal community, is the first recipient of the Allan Brotsky Pro Bono Award, presented on May 16 at the School of Law Commencement at the Nob Hill Masonic Center in San Francisco.

This new award recognizes outstanding pro bono work by law faculty and staff in the School of Law.

The current legal-historical majority view regarding the Law Code of Manu (Manusmriti) of Ancient India is that it was probably formulated by one man about 2100 years ago (100 BC) and its influence remained confined mostly to India and some parts of Southeast Asia; this view has not yet been revised, in spite of relatively recent scientific and archaeological research findings that appear to shed light upon a possible rethinking of this view.
