The increased student interest in clinical education at the University of Georgia, as manifested by the Symposium held here last spring, lead to the formation of the ad hoc Faculty Committee on Clinical Education. The Committee's basic purpose was to examine clinical legal education at the University and to formulate clinical programs which would improve and in some instances increase student opportunities in this phase of the law school's curriculum.
This report presents the conclusions and recommendations of the Committee. The report consists of a brief description of the major trends in American legal education over the last 100 years …

Strategic Plan Documents
This 34-page spiral bound booklet includes a detailed strategic plan for the University of Georgia School of Law. Although portions of the planning booklet are works of the collective departments at the School of Law, the plan bears the Dean of the Law School's name as author, J. Ralph Beaird. In the introduction Beaird notes that the blueprint goal is to provide an "objective appraisal o four past as well as a purposeful and specific plan for the future". He goes on to outline that "the analysis will be concerned with the 'four pillars' of quality education - students, instruction, …

Within the last decade, Langdell's case method of legal education has ceased to be the exclusive means of instruction in the Nation's law schools. The increasing support of the traditional academic curriculum at Georgia with seminars, simulation and burgeoning clinical programs clearly demonstrates that legal education here is no longer inextricably bound to the case method.
Underlying the recent trend among law schools to revitalize the academic curriculum with supplementary practical experience is the growing realization of a public obligation to produce technically competent and professional lawyers by graduation. Defining clinical legal education as "lawyer-client work by a law student, …

The year 1967-1968 was the first full year of what might appropriately be called Phase II of the campaign to move the University of Georgia School of Law into the front rank of legal education. The year's activities were highlighted in the fall with the Dedication Exercises, at which the Honorable Hugo L. Black, Associate Justice of the United State Supreme Court, gave the principal address; and in the spring by the appearance of the Honorable Dean Rusk, Secretary of State of the United States of America, as our Law Day speaker. These address were supplemented during the year with …

A Message From the Dean
For each of the past several years, the Student Bar Association of the University of Georgia School of Law has prepared and distributed to the members of the bar of Georgia a Placement Brochure, designed to introduce, by photographs and brief biographical statements, the members of that year's senior law class. The purpose has been and is to bring to the attention of the members of the bar seeking new associates those prospective graduates most likely to meet their particular needs. In a sense, the Placement Brochure for 1967 is like its predecessors in that …

The School of Law has had a good year, but has suffered as a result of quite inadequate physical facilities. This matter has been referred to in my Annual Report for years, but now we at the Law School are pleased that, upon the recommendation of the Administration of the University, the Board of Regents has made provisions for additional facilities.

The School of Law has had a good year, but has suffered as a result of quite inadequate physical facilities. This matter has been referred to in the Annual Reports for years past but the situation is now most critical. Therefore, the most important part of this Report has to do with the urgency of the need of additional physical facilities that is discussed in Section IV PHYSICAL FACILITIES of this Report.

I have the honor to submit the following Report for the School of Law for the year 1960-1961.
Aristotle once said: "All who have meditated on the art of governing mankind have been convinced that the fate of Empires depends upon the education of youth." So it seems to me that the fate of the bar of this country depends upon the education of the young men and women who are admitted to the bar. For over a century now the University of Georgia Law School has been engaged in this high endeavor. We are indeed proud of our alumni …

An adequate library is absolutely essential for the operation of a modern law school. Fortunately the law building is satisfactory in most respects due to the generosity of the alumni and friends of the Law School. We have now reached the point, however, where additional stacks are necessary. The present stacks are arranged so that a glass floor can be laid on them and thereby provide two floors in the stackroom. Additional stacks may be placed on this second floor and we shall then be able to properly take care of our books. The stackroom was constructed with this end …

An adequate library is absolutely necessary for the operation of a modern Law School. Fortunately the present quarters and physical equipment are satisfactory due to the generosity of alumni and friends of the Law School. Progress has been made during the past few years in providing essential books, but I wish to point out again certain deficiencies that should be taken care of as soon as possible.
Last fall a survey of the University of Georgia Library was made by the committee on behalf of the American Library Association. The report on page twenty-two contains the following statement concerning the …
