Metal Organic Frameworks Modified Textiles For The Detoxification Of Chemical Warfare Agent / Simulant, Selva Balasubramanian S
Theses and Dissertations
Chemical Warfare Agents (CWAs) have been listed as lethal weapons of mass destruction due to their extreme toxicity and devastating effects. Malfeasant usage of CWAs involved in the current world praxis poses threat to humankind. Owing to their acute lethal toxicity, the pursuit of favorable approaches for the detoxification/degradation are in continuous progress. In current trends, an imminent development of self-detoxification filters is highly desirable against the CWAs exposure. Exploiting protective materials that can be applicable in day – today life for an instantaneous detoxification will be of prodigious importance.

Stiffness And Strength-Based Concurrent Shape And Fiber Path Optimization Of Continuous Fiber Composites, Zhelong He, Ali Tamijani
Stiffness And Strength-Based Concurrent Shape And Fiber Path Optimization Of Continuous Fiber Composites, Zhelong He, Ali Tamijani
Publications
A computer-implemented method of optimizing a computer model including a shape and a fiber path for a continuous fiber composite can include initializing a fixed finite element mesh. The method can also include creating an updated version of the shape and the fiber path by iterating updates of the shape and the fiber path using the fixed finite element mesh. The method can also include initializing an adapted finite element mesh on the updated version of the shape and the fiber path. The method can also include creating an optimized version of the shape and the fiber path by iterating …
Experimental Studies On Determination Of Loading And Laws Of Motion Of The Accelerator Of The Raw Material Chamber Of The Saw Gin, Yusuf Abbasovich Axmedjanov
Experimental Studies On Determination Of Loading And Laws Of Motion Of The Accelerator Of The Raw Material Chamber Of The Saw Gin, Yusuf Abbasovich Axmedjanov
Technical science and innovation
The findings of research conducted on the saw gin’s accelerator in its raw chamber are displayed at different belt drive eccentricity values, both in the absence of load and with technological load. It has been discovered that, in a steady-state scenario without a load, the maximum torque value increases as the eccentricity of the system’s tension roller increases in a technological load scenario, the torque minimum is noted at an eccentricity of e = 3 mm. When conducting experiments under load, the average angular velocity fluctuation amplitude and the coefficient of unevenness of rotation have minimum values at zero eccentricity …
Consumers' Acceptance To Buy And Dispose Of Recycling Textile Products, Roa Alsayed
Consumers' Acceptance To Buy And Dispose Of Recycling Textile Products, Roa Alsayed
Theses and Dissertations
The textile industry is the second most polluting worldwide, following food manufacturing. It is one of the industries that is rarely scrutinized in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. This work analyzes the fashion industry from the perspective of consumer attitudes towards the purchase and disposal of clothing, and their behavior with regards to old garments. The study was conducted in Saudi Arabia and Egypt, two countries that achieved similar results in the fashion industry. The methodology is divided into three phases. First, the manuscript begins with a review of topics such as sustainability, consumer behavior in the …
Weaving Transformations: Integrating The Tc2 Loom In Higher Education Textile Programs, Anna Stuffelbeam, Kate Nartker, Janie Woodbridge
Weaving Transformations: Integrating The Tc2 Loom In Higher Education Textile Programs, Anna Stuffelbeam, Kate Nartker, Janie Woodbridge
Textile Society of America: Symposium Proceedings
The Thread Controller 2 (TC2) loom is a novel technology that has reshaped how artists and designers explore the technical intricacies in jacquard weaving and harness textiles for creative expression. In this presentation, we discuss the integration of the TC2 within higher education art and design programs across the United States. Our research aims to explore the complexities and opportunities presented by the TC2 loom from both educator and student perspectives. The integration of this unique technology emphasizes the need for adaptation and innovation in pedagogical approaches.
In this two-part presentation, we first discuss the results of a qualitative study …
Environmental Metrics In Action: Exploring U.S. Superfund Sites Affiliated With The Fashion Industry, Nidia K. Trejo
Environmental Metrics In Action: Exploring U.S. Superfund Sites Affiliated With The Fashion Industry, Nidia K. Trejo
Textile Society of America: Symposium Proceedings
Little is known of Superfund sites, long-term clean up sites, affiliated with the apparel and footwear supply chain in the United States. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) manages the clean up of contaminated sites that pose a significant risk to human health and the environment under the Superfund program. A site can become contaminated if hazardous waste from industrial operations are mismanaged or dumped into the environment, in an uncontrolled manner. In this study, a proposed Superfund site (Mohawk Tannery in Nashua, New Hampshire), an active Superfund site (Ciba-Geigy Corp. in Toms River, New Jersery), and a …
Experimentation On Manual Paper Making Using Mango Seed Fibers, Mercy Wanduara
Experimentation On Manual Paper Making Using Mango Seed Fibers, Mercy Wanduara
Textile Society of America: Symposium Proceedings
This paper seeks to explore the use of Kenyan mango fiber as a core ingredient in papermaking. Mango is a tropical fruit grown in many countries around the world, including Kenya. The fruit tree grows naturally and has a maturity period of approximately three years. When this juicy fruit is ready for harvesting most of the fruits are harvested for consumption but plenty of them find their way into compost because of overproduction and lack of market. Moreover, the fruits are either consumed whole or juiced. The core of the fruit is a hairy seed which has little value to …
Environmental Sustainability, Healthcare Workers And Healthcare Students: A Literature Review Of Attitudes And Learning Approaches, Pamela R. Mccauley, Kavita Mathur, Reza Kamali Miab, Nina Cohen, Kedena Henriques-Thompson, Jyo Gopinath
Environmental Sustainability, Healthcare Workers And Healthcare Students: A Literature Review Of Attitudes And Learning Approaches, Pamela R. Mccauley, Kavita Mathur, Reza Kamali Miab, Nina Cohen, Kedena Henriques-Thompson, Jyo Gopinath
Health Professions Education
Purpose: Today, increased attention has been placed on the healthcare industry and its workers in the wake of the global COVID-19 pandemic. Increases in facemask production, personal protective equipment, and the number of patients admitted into hospitals have resulted in a sharp rise in medical waste and environmental concerns. This has led to a greater interest by the research community to study the type of training and education that healthcare workers and students receive which could facilitate the implementation of sustainability activities during their work.
Design/Methodology: We have conducted a literature review (2010 to 2024) on healthcare worker …
Inconclusive Objects: Sample Making As Inquiry-Driven Practice, Etta Sandry
Inconclusive Objects: Sample Making As Inquiry-Driven Practice, Etta Sandry
Textile Society of America: Symposium Proceedings
In Inconclusive Objects: Sample Making as Inquiry-driven Practice I will discuss craft sample making as a valuable practice of critical thought and experimentation. Craftspeople, artists, and designers make samples to practice technical skills and to demonstrate results on small scales. It is process work, typically used to learn a new technique or a hidden step on the way to a final product. However, as a cumulative process of research, material probing, and play, sampling is a critical aspect of design and creation. What can a closer study of sampling reveal about creative practice and knowledge production in craft and beyond? …
