Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: A mechanism for green multicast routing protection was designed, where the constraint of quality of service (QoS), energy consumption and the survivability to single link or node failure were under consideration. The node model which supported the exchange of multi-granularity services was built to meet the energy saving requirement in multi-granularity services, and the analysis of energy consumption was introduced with the formulas of energy consumption defined. Based on the physical topology, a multi-layer auxiliary graph was proposed, which was used to allocate and release resources. The fuzzy mathematics method was used to present QoS by the membership degree. …

Algorithms For Join Queries In Multiple Wireless Sensor Networks, Shangfeng Mo, Yongjian Fan, Xiaoliang Wang, Qingchun Yu, Yinglong Li
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: The perception layer of Internet of Things (IoTs) is mainly composed of Multiple Wireless Sensor Networks (MWSNs). Data query processing is a very important research area in MWSNs. Join queries can monitor similar network environments in different positions. In general join algorithm, each ordinary node sends its join attribute value to the database server. The database server finds out the result set which meets the join conditions. In distributed join algorithm, the ordinary nodes predict their filters of next round and the database server obtains the global, common filters. The nodes which meet the join conditions send their data …

Novel Algorithm Of High-Speed Target Isar Imaging Based On Stretch Method, Wenmao Luo, Yingliu Cui
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: The pulse compression result will be distorted while the target moves very fast and it cannot get right ISAR images. A novel algorithm based on chirp-Fourier transform was proposed to solve this problem. In the scheme, every echo’s differential frequency signal of stretch processing was calculated by chirp-Fourier transform to estimate the target’s location and speed, and the target’s precious speed could be averaged by the estimations during the whole dwell time. Then the penalty function could be constructed to eliminate the intra and inter-pulse motion, and it could get right ISAR images. Because the chirp-Fourier transform was …

Effect Of Assembly Force On Gas Diffusion Layer For Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell, Yibo Zhou, Jianjian Wang
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: A three-dimensional multi-flow channel proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) model has been developed to investigate the deformation of gas diffusion layer (GDL) with different assembly force and different contact ratio of channel. The results indicate that the GDL under the land part changes significantly while the central region under the flow channel almost has no deformation with increasing assembly force. When the contact ratio of channel is not 100%, the deformation of GDL is not symmetrical due to the shear stress, and the thickness of GDL under the flow channel even exceeds its initial thickness, which produces the …

In particle simulations of semiconductor devices for electro-static discharge (ESD) study at the microscopic level, solving Poisson's equation is an inevitable but time-consuming step. In this work, a deep learning technique is utilized to resolve Poisson's equation for a PN junction under an ESD event, namely using a trained deep neural network (DNN) to predict the potential distribution according to the charge distribution and the boundary condition under a transient ESD excitation. To improve the generalization performance of the DNN, multiple typical ESD curves with different parameters are used as the excitation boundary to generate large amounts of training data …
Combining Machine Learning And Empirical Engineering Methods Towards Improving Oil Production Forecasting, Andrew J. Allen
Combining Machine Learning And Empirical Engineering Methods Towards Improving Oil Production Forecasting, Andrew J. Allen
Master's Theses
Current methods of production forecasting such as decline curve analysis (DCA) or numerical simulation require years of historical production data, and their accuracy is limited by the choice of model parameters. Unconventional resources have proven challenging to apply traditional methods of production forecasting because they lack long production histories and have extremely variable model parameters. This research proposes a data-driven alternative to reservoir simulation and production forecasting techniques. We create a proxy-well model for predicting cumulative oil production by selecting statistically significant well completion parameters and reservoir information as independent predictor variables in regression-based models. Then, principal component analysis (PCA) …

Towards A Cyber-Physical Manufacturing Cloud Through Operable Digital Twins And Virtual Production Lines, Md Rakib Shahriar
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
In last decade, the paradigm of Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) has integrated industrial manufacturing systems with Cloud Computing technologies for Cloud Manufacturing. Up to 2015, there were many CPS-based manufacturing systems that collected real-time machining data to perform remote monitoring, prognostics and health management, and predictive maintenance. However, these CPS-integrated and network ready machines were not directly connected to the elements of Cloud Manufacturing and required human-in-the-loop. Addressing this gap, we introduced a new paradigm of Cyber-Physical Manufacturing Cloud (CPMC) that bridges a gap between physical machines and virtual space in 2017. CPMC virtualizes machine tools in cloud through web services …

In this work, we explore the thermal properties of gallium as an effective phase change material for thermal management applications. Thermal storage and dissipation of gallium manufactured heat sinks were compared to conventional phase change heat sinks. The comparison revealed a 50-fold (80 K versus 1.5 K) potential reduction in temperature during the phase change process due to the high density, thermal conductivity, and latent heat of fusion. The gallium creates shallow thermal gradients when transiently heated, producing a nearly isothermal process. Computational estimates using lumped sum parameters were able to provide simple modeling to predict the results. Gallium based …
Study On New Sampling Plans And Optimal Integration With Proactive Maintenance In Production Systems, Sinan Obaidat
Study On New Sampling Plans And Optimal Integration With Proactive Maintenance In Production Systems, Sinan Obaidat
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Sampling plans are statistical process control (SPC) tools used mainly in production processes. They are employed to control processes by monitoring the quality of produced products and alerting for necessary adjustments or maintenance. Sampling is used when an undesirable change (shift) in a process is unobservable and needs time to discover. Basically, the shift occurs when an assignable cause affects the process. Wrong setups, defective raw materials, degraded components are examples of assignable causes. The assignable cause causes a variable (or attribute) quality characteristic to shift from the desired state to an undesired state.
The main concern of sampling is …
Models For Data Analysis In Accelerated Reliability Growth, Cesar Alexander Ruiz Torres
Models For Data Analysis In Accelerated Reliability Growth, Cesar Alexander Ruiz Torres
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
This work develops new methodologies for analyzing accelerated testing data in the context of a reliability growth program for a complex multi-component system. Each component has multiple failure modes and the growth program consists of multiple test-fix stages with corrective actions applied at the end of each stage. The first group of methods considers time-to-failure data and test covariates for predicting the final reliability of the system. The time-to-failure of each failure mode is assumed to follow a Weibull distribution with rate parameter proportional to an acceleration factor. Acceleration factors are specific to each failure mode and test covariates. We …

Student Works
The design project reported in this paper examined female pilots’ experiences with how well or poorly cockpit design allowed them to safely accomplish their flying missions. The general aviation aircraft cockpit is not designed for female pilots, often causing them to find ways to adapt to the cockpit in order to operate the aircraft safely. Two primary focal areas for adaptations address issues with accessibility of controls and “viewability” inside and outside the cockpit. The design team used a Situation Awareness-Oriented Interface Design (SAOD) approach in preparing cockpit design recommendations for general aviation aircraft that would accommodate female pilots.

Identification Method For Fractional-Order Systems Based On Haar Wavelet Operational Matrix, Yuanlu Li, Li Teng, Baoying Liu
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: Studies have shown that the dynamical systems can be more accurately described by the fractional-order systems because its order can be any number. That’s why the fractional-order systems are being paid more and more attention. However, how to create a fractional-order system is still in the exploratory stage. Considering the nonlocal features of the fractional differentiation, a method for the fractional-order system identification is proposed by taking the Haar wavelet operational matrix. The proposed method can reduce the dimension of the operational matrix by abandoning the high frequency coefficients of the input and output signals so that the buffer …
