In this thesis, the current status of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries’ sustainable development performance towards reaching the recently announced 2030 Agenda (17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)) was investigated. Over 90 social, economic and environmental sustainability indicators were considered for the performance assessment of OECD countries towards reaching the targeted SDGs. The current weighted averaging approach used in the recent SDG Index and Dashboards Report was used as the benchmark and its limitations were discussed. The modeling in this paper functions inside a collaborative robotic framework for high mix, low volume processes where human robot collaboration is beneficial. Automation of pressure washing is desirable for economic and ergonomic reasons. In this paper, we study the bundle design problem for offering personalized bundles of services using historical consumer redemption data. The problem studied here is for an operator managing multiple service providers, each responsible for an attraction, in a leisure park. Given the specific structure of interactions between service providers, consumers and the operator, a bundle of services is beneficial for the operator when the bundle is underutilized by service consumers. Quantum biology is an emerging field which seeks to understand and analyze the effects of quantum mechanical phenomena on biological systems. One such phenomenon is the formation of radical pairs, compounds which exist in a quantum superposition of two states until they collapse into one or the other. The probability of the collapse into a preferred state can be calculated from the Schrödinger equation, and is in fact dependent on external magnetic fields. The goal of this design was to develop an extreme altitude rescue helicopter capable of retrieving hikers stranded on top of Mount Everest. Using the Eurocopter AS350 as a baseline, a conceptual model was produced that is fully capable of hovering and delivering forward flight at the desired altitude of 8,848 meters. Combined blade element momentum theory, proper airfoil selection, and forward flight calculations were utilized in order to optimize the rotor for the given flight conditions on top of Mount Everest. This thesis presents an equilibrium-based modeling framework for emergency response (ER) workload balancing to achieve robust operation in large-scale metropolitan areas. The problem is formulated as a non-linear mathematical program (NLP), which determines the optimal workload cutoff for each ER station such that the weighted sum of the area-wide expected response time and its variation are minimized. The concept of Marginal Cost of Uncertainty (MCU) is introduced to measure the impact of a station’s workload increase on the area-wide service performance. In recent years, major companies have done research on using drones for parcel delivery. Research has shown that this can result in significant savings, which has led to the formulation of various truck and drone routing and scheduling optimization problems. This paper explains and analyzes a new approach to the Drone Traveling Salesman Problem (DTSP) based on ant colony optimization (ACO).

Abstract: In order to reduce the computing time when simulating the biologic neural network, an efficient clock-driven algorithm based on the separation of synaptic conductance computation is presented. It is found that the calculation of the synaptic state variables can be separated into two independent parts: one called conductance coefficient related with the pre-synaptic neuron, and the other called synaptic current. Abstract: For verifying the design rationality and the property of a linkage underactuated finger, Solidworks is utilized to simulate the grasp operation of the finger with some different objects at the different positions. Abstract: To deal with the classification problems of strawberry in production, a machine vision based strawberry weight and shape grading method was proposed. The strawberry image was segmented by thresholding to extract the fruit. The area and perimeter parameters of the fruit were then calculated and used to build the strawberry weight grading model through regression analysis. Previous security designs cannot detect faked reports that are forged coordinately by a group of compromised nodes. Furthermore, in sparse areas, some events failed to be reported to sink.
