Research On Modelica-Based Training Simulation System Of Tamper Operations, Xiaobo Peng, Cheng Tao, Feng Ping, Jianming Du

Journal of System Simulation

Abstract: Tamping operations are trivial and must comply with operation specifications, which requires the training simulation system of tamper operations (TSSTO) have ability to manage its operation process. For this requirement, a TSSTO based on Modelica was developed. The multi-domain physical model of the tamper system, which is responsible for the simulation calculation of the system, was constructed by Modelica. The status model, which manages the operation process, was configured according to operation specifications. The interactive simulation was accomplished through a pipe that operations drive the status model then the status model drives the physical model. The algorithm of interactive …

Research Method For Integrating Subjective And Objective Information In Evaluating Quality Level Of Journals, Zhang Quan, Wen Xin, Liping Yu, Jia Wei

Journal of System Simulation

Abstract: The evaluation of the quality level of academic journals was investigated. In order to overcome the drawbacks of current methods which made uses of only the subjective evaluation information or the objective information on the journals, a comprehensive evaluation method was proposed for integrating both the decision makers' subjective information and the objective information. The decision makers' subjective evaluation information was expressed in some grade, grade interval, or a fuzzy set over a grade evaluation set. The objective information of journals was reflected by the numerical attributes, such as, the total citation frequency, impact factor and immediacy …

Research Of Noise Mitigation Method Based On Dspwvd-Tfpf In Communication System, Lingdong Su, Mingyue Zhai

Journal of System Simulation

Abstract: In the case of low SNR, the quality of the communication system will be decreased and the traditional TFPF on time-frequency clustering and noise suppression will descend. In order to overcome these, a new family of TF distribution, namely, the joint directionally smoothing Wigner-Ville distribution was presented to achieve instantaneous frequency estimation. This new TF distributions is based on the definition of the directionally smoothed pseudo Wigner-Ville distribution (DSPWVD) and point wise adaptive weight averaging of a bank of DSPWVD with different directions. The simulation shows that at low SNR, compared to traditional TFPF, DSPWVD-TFPF algorithm can better …

The effects of geometric parameters including width-to-depth ratio, stagger ratio, slope ratio and fillet ratio on hydraulic characteristics within and near the gate slot were simulated systematically. According to the vulnerable cavitation locations of the flow over the slot, the pressure distributions in swirl area and the separation zone at the rear of downstream corner of the slot were investigated emphatically. The results show that the effects of width-to-depth ratios and stagger ratios on the pressure distribution of the flow are significantly. …

Zone Path Construction (Zac) Based Approaches For Effective Real-Time Ridesharing, Meghna Lowalekar, Pradeep Varakantham, Patrick Jaillet

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

Real-time ridesharing systems such as UberPool, Lyft Line, GrabShare have become hugely popular as they reduce the costs for customers, improve per trip revenue for drivers and reduce traffic on the roads by grouping customers with similar itineraries. The key challenge in these systems is to group the "right" requests to travel together in the "right" available vehicles in real-time, so that the objective (e.g., requests served, revenue or delay) is optimized. This challenge has been addressed in existing work by: (i) generating as many relevant feasible (with respect to the available delay for customers) combinations of requests as possible …

Bus Frequency Optimization: When Waiting Time Matters In User Satisfaction, Songsong Mo, Zhifeng Bao, Baihua Zheng, Zhiyong Peng

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

Reorganizing bus frequency to cater for the actual travel demand can save the cost of the public transport system significantly. Many, if not all, existing studies formulate this as a bus frequency optimization problem which tries to minimize passengers’ average waiting time. However, many investigations have confirmed that the user satisfaction drops faster as the waiting time increases. Consequently, this paper studies the bus frequency optimization problem considering the user satisfaction. Specifically, for the first time to our best knowledge, we study how to schedule the buses such that the total number of passengers who could receive their bus services …

Solar Power Forecasting Using Wavelet Transform And Machine Learning Approaches, Abdullah Nor Azliana Sep 2020

Solar Power Forecasting Using Wavelet Transform And Machine Learning Approaches, Abdullah Nor Azliana

Student Works (2020-2029)

Generation of photovoltaic (PV) power is intermittent in nature and integration of PV system into the grid system causes an imbalanced power production and power demand. One of the efforts to reduce this problem is to forecast the generation of solar power in the PV system. Solar power forecasting requires the collection of solar power and meteorological data. Hence, this work collected solar power data and various meteorological data (global radiation, tilted radiation, temperature surrounding, humidity surrounding, PV module/ PV panel temperature and wind speed) from Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM). A pre-processing process is carried out to ensure that …

A Hybrid Framework Using A Qubo Solver For Permutation-Based Combinatorial Optimization, Siong Thye Goh, Sabrish Gopalakrishnan, Jianyuan Bo, Hoong Chuin Lau

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

In this paper, we propose a hybrid framework to solve large-scale permutation-based combinatorial problems effectively using a high-performance quadratic unconstrained binary optimization (QUBO) solver. To do so, transformations are required to change a constrained optimization model to an unconstrained model that involves parameter tuning. We propose techniques to overcome the challenges in using a QUBO solver that typically comes with limited numbers of bits. First, to smooth the energy landscape, we reduce the magnitudes of the input without compromising optimality. We propose a machine learning approach to tune the parameters for good performance effectively. To handle possible infeasibility, we introduce …

Furthermore, to fulfill the closed-loop testing, the stereo vision function was accomplished by using multiple processes that made the images rapidly generated and the cameras' position and attitude parameters were supplied from rover's dynamics. Many …
