A Study Of The Possible Use Of Aluminum As A Reducing Agent For Manganese Chloride, William J. Borzick

Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970

Aluminium has been used as a reducing agent for various reactions, the best known of which is the thermit reaction, which is defined in the "Metals Handbook" as; "An exothermic, self-propagating process in which finely divided aluminum powder is used to reduce metal oxides to free metals by direct oxidation of aluminum to aluminum oxide, with accompanying reduction of the less stable metal oxide."
