The International Electrotechnical Committee Technical Report IEC 61000-3-15:2011 provides electromagnetic compatibility requirements and test conditions for distributed generators up to 75 A per phase. In the current research, two commercially available photovoltaic (PV) inverters up to the capacity of 3600 W were tested following the guidelines proposed in IEC 61000-3-15 in relation to low order harmonic emission and flicker emission. In addition, the harmonic and flicker emission behaviour of the PV inverters were investigated under varying irradiation conditions. The paper presents voltage and reactive power control in the Main Interconnected Transmission System (MITS) in the Sultanate of Oman. The objective is to improve voltage profile at substations supplying distribution companies and directly connected bulk customer. Results are presented from the design, fabrication and testing of an electromagnetic-inductor device to convert aeroelastic-induced oscillations of an airfoil into electricity. The energy harvester consists of three magnets configured such that the force-displacement relationship can be described by a fifth-degree polynomial. the integration of the harvester into a two-degree-of-freedom, pitch/plunge airfoil system introduces nonlinear stiffness into the plunge direction. This nonlinearity gives rise to limit cycle oscillations which, in turn, are converted to electric power by the harvester. We present an end-to-end modeling framework, spanning the device, module and also system levels, for analyzing thin film photovoltaics (PV). This approach is based on embedding a detailed, statistically relevant, physics based equivalent circuit into module and array level simulations. This approach enables us to analyze key variability and reliability issues in thin film PV, and allows us to interpret their effect on process yield and intrinsic module lifetimes. Partial shading in thin film solar panels can result in reverse bias stress across shaded cells. Therefore, it is important to understand the effect of such reverse stress in commercially competitive PV technologies such as CIGS. In this paper, we systematically investigate the effect of moderate reverse bias on solution-processed CIGS solar cells. We subject the solar cells to varying degrees of reverse biases and continuously monitor the impact of the stress on dark current. Laser-based ammonia gas sensors have useful applications in many fields including combustion, atmospheric monitoring, and medical diagnostics. Calibration-free trace gas sensors require the spectroscopic parameters including linestrengths and collisional broadening coefficients to be known. Ammonia's strong ν2 vibrational band between View the MathML source has the high absorption strength needed for sensing small concentrations. This is the second of two papers examining the practicality of superconducting windings for large power transformers. The issues examined in this paper include elements of the behavior of superconducting tapes that would be important in power transformers, the refrigeration requirements for a step-up transformer of practical size, a coil structure appropriate to a superconducting winding and its cryogenic environment, current crowding in the end turns, and an estimate of the energy savings that a practical superconducting transformer could be expected to realize.

The tool leverages the high-fidelity building simulation capabilities of EnergyPlus and the scientific computation and design capabilities of Matlab for controller design. In this report we look at the problem of peak power reduction for buildings with electric radiant floor heating systems. Uncoordinated operation of a multi-zone radiant floor heating system can result in temporally correlated electricity demand surges or peaks in the building’s electricity consumption. As peak power prices are 200-400 times that of the nominal rate, this uncoordinated activity can result in high electricity costs and expensive system operation. Absolute ground-state density of nitrogen atoms N (2p3 4S3/2) in non-equilibrium Townsend dielectric barrier discharges (TDBDs) at atmospheric pressure sustained in N2/N2O and N2/O2 gas mixtures has been measured using Two-photon absorption laser-induced fluorescence (TALIF) spectroscopy. The quantitative measurements have been obtained by TALIF calibration using krypton as a reference gas. We previously reported that the maximum of N (2p3 4S3/2) atom density is around 3 × 1014 cm−3 in pure nitrogen TDBD, and that this maximum depends strongly on the mean energy dissipated in the gas. The paper concerns with the determination of Weather-Based Ampacity (WBA) of overhead line conductors in the Main Interconnected Transmission System (MITS) of Oman. The objective is to exploit the available capacity of existing overhead transmission lines, thus reducing investments in replacing conductors or constructing new circuits. Conductor parameters and weather data are collected to calculate the thermal rating of the of transmission lines. Vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) and infrared (IR) absorption cross-section measurements of 1-butene (1-C4H8; CH2=CHCH2CH3; Butylene) are reported over the temperature range of 296–529 K. The VUV measurements are performed between 115 and 205 nm using synchrotron radiation as a tunable VUV light source. Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy is employed to measure absorption cross-section and band strengths in the IR region between 1.54 and 25 μm (∼6500–400 cm−1). The measured room-temperature VUV and IR absorption cross-sections are compared with available literature data and are found to be in good agreement.
