Influence Of Fiber Loading And Cu/Sio₂ Fillers On Mechanical And Physical Properties Of Sugarcane Bagasse Epoxy Composites, Ansor Salim Siregar, Indra Indra, Agung Fauzi Hanafi, Sunny Ineza Putri

Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science and Technology (JMEST)

The rising worldwide need for lightweight, high-strength, and eco-friendly materials has driven considerable investigation into natural fiber composites. This research offers an extensive examination of the creation and characterization of a new hybrid composite designed for high-performance sports equipment. The composite structure consists of an epoxy matrix strengthened with sugarcane bagasse fibers and synergistic blend of copper and silicon dioxide hybrid particulate fillers. Three unique composite variations were created, with systematically adjusted weight fractions of sugarcane bagasse fiber (35%, 31%, 27%) and hybrid fillers. A thorough assessment of mechanical and physical properties was carried out following ASTM standards. The results …

The Influence Of Sodium Chloride Treatment On The Sisal Fiber Bundle’S Properties, Tamaryska Setyayunita, Heru Suryanto, Aminnudin Aminnudin

Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science and Technology (JMEST)

Currently, composite board manufacturing using natural fiber has the potential to be expanded due to environmental awareness. To produce high-performance natural fiber, treatment is needed to improve natural fiber’s mechanical and physical properties. One of chemical treatments is by using sodium chloride (NaCl). This study aimed to investigate the characteristics of sisal fiber after NaCl treatment. The concentrations of NaCl treatment were 1, 3, and 5 (wt.%) at room and boiling temperature and the soaking duration was 1 hour. Meanwhile, tensile strength, strain, and Young’s modulus were tested to evaluate the mechanical properties. Fiber bundle diameter, weight change due to …

Early-Age Strength And Failure Characteristics Of 3d Printable Polymer Concrete: Numerical Modelling And Experimental Testing, Mohammad Amin Dehghani Najvani Dec 2023

Early-Age Strength And Failure Characteristics Of 3d Printable Polymer Concrete: Numerical Modelling And Experimental Testing, Mohammad Amin Dehghani Najvani

Civil Engineering ETDs

The time-dependent rheological and early-age strength parameters of Polymer concrete (PC) were investigated. PC flow decreased, and the static yield stress and thixotropy increased as the specimen aged, while the dynamic yield stress remained unchanged. The study found that the Herschel-Bulkley model can accurately describe the PC’s rheological behavior over time. The change in cohesion strength and internal friction angle over time was observed using uniaxial unconfined compression and direct shear tests of fresh PC. A time-dependent MohrCoulomb failure criterion was established. Temperature analysis was used to determine the gel time and explain the evolution of the time-dependent early-age strength …

Effect Of Heating Temperature, Holding Time And Stabilization Temperature On The Al-Foam Properties, Dewi Puspitasari, Poppy Puspitasari, Mazli Mustapha, Turnad Lenggo Ginta

Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science and Technology (JMEST)

The interest in metallic foam is increasing since their cellular structures have a unique combination of properties such as high stiffness, low density, lightweight, high specific strength, and thermal insulation. Commonly, the performance of metallic foam can be improved by the heat treatment process. However, the previous heat treatment methods still present the brittle crack path and the research on heat treatments of the metal foam properties is very limited. In this study, individual parameters in stress relieving treatment that contribute to Al-Foam properties were investigated. The stress-relieving process of the samples was performed using a vacuum furnace. The composition …

The Analysis Of Permeability And Mechanical Properties Of Sand Moulding Using Mixed Material Clamshell (Placuna Placenta) On Sand Casting, Kritchakhris Nawettanaprasert, Zakaria Bagus Aminanta, Putut Murdanto

Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science and Technology (JMEST)

This study objected to determine mechanical properties of sand moulding by conducting tensile test, compressive and shear test, and also permeability test. This study also had the other objective that was analyse clamshell (Placuna placenta) as mixture material for bentonite as binder in manufacturing sand moulding in order to reduce the usage of bentonite. The method that used in this study was pre-experimental method with One-Shot Case Study model. The best mechanical properties obtained on sample 3 clamshell 11%, permeability results obtained was 190 ml/min, tensile strength results obtained for the dry sand was 0.015 kg/cm2, compressive strength obtained for …

Analysis Of Mechanical Properties And Permeability Of Sand Moulding By Using Eggshell In Sand Casting, Wahyu Kurnianto, Poppy Puspitasari, Wahono Wahono

Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science and Technology (JMEST)

This study aimed to analyse the usage of Eggshell as mixture material of bentonite in metal casting process which used dried sand moulding. Eggshell variations in this study were 4%, 7%, 10% eggshell, and additional 3% of bentonite on each sample. This study used pre-experimental method and included to OneShot Case Study model. The highest strength was found on the sample 3 ES 10%. Tensile strength of dried sand moulding reach up to 0.09 kg/cm2, the compressive strength of dried sand moulding reached up to 3.11 kg/cm2, and the shear strength of dried sand moulding reached up to 1.13 kg/cm2. …

Mechanical Properties And Permeability Of Sand Casting Moulds With Eggshells Binder, Maryam Sharifi Jebeli Sharifi Jebeli, Wahyu Kurnianto, Wahono Wahono

Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science and Technology (JMEST)

This research aimed to analyse whether or not eggshell could be a potential addition to sand mould composition as a binding material together with bentonite. Different amounts of eggshell material, i.e. 4%, 7%, 10% and 3%, were added to each sample. This study was a type of pre-experimental design called the one-shot case study. Among all sand moulds under study, sample 3 10% ES in dry conditions had the highest tensile, compressive and shear strengths of 0.09 Kg/cm2, 3.11 Kg/cm2 and 1.13 Kg/cm2, respectively. The results of the permeability test with heat treatment at 110˚C for 60 minutes showed that …
