INTRODUCTION: Analyzing animal behavior helps researchers understand their decision-making process and helper tools are rapidly becoming an indispensable part of many interdisciplinary studies. However, researchers are often challenged to estimate animal pose because of the limitation of the tools and its vulnerability to a specific environment. Over the years, deep learning has been introduced as an alternative solution to overcome these challenges.
OBJECTIVES: This study investigates how deep learning models can be applied for the accurate prediction of animal behavior, comparing with traditional morphological analysis based on image pixels.

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of the guide vanes on the efficiency of the turbine of solar chimney power plant using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). In this study, a 3-Dimentional CFD simulation of solar chimney power plant based on the Manzanares prototype is performed. The CFD simulation is validated by comparing the experimental data from the Manzanares prototype and simulation data with both 2D and 3D cases. The formalization of musical composition rules is a topic that has been studied for a long time. It can lead to a better understanding of the underlying processes, and provide a useful tool for musicologist to aid and speed up the analysis process. In our attempt we introduce Schoenberg’s rules from Fundamentals of Musical Composition using a specialized version of Petri nets, called Music Petri nets. Petri nets are a formal tool for studying systems that are concurrent, asynchronous, distributed, parallel, nondeterministic, and/or stochastic. Realistic 3D audio can greatly enhance the sense of presence in
a virtual environment. We introduce a framework for capturing,
transmitting and rendering of 3D audio in presence of other
bandwidth savvy streams in a 3D Tele-immersion based virtual
environment. This framework presents an efficient implementation
for 3D Binaural Spatialization based on the positions of current
objects in the scene, including animated avatars and on the fly

Social experiences realized through teleconferencing systems are still quite different from face to face meetings. The awareness that we are online and in a, to some extent, lesser real world are preventing us from really engaging and enjoying the event. Meeting, socializing and conversing online with a group of people using teleconferencing systems is still quite different from the experience of meeting face to face. This paper focuses on the use of GPGPU (General- Purpose computing on Graphics Processing Units) for audio processing. This is a promising approach to problems where a high parallelization of tasks is desirable. Within the context of binaural spatialization we will develop a convolution engine having in mind both offine and real-time scenarios, and the support for multiple sound sources. To investigating the capabilities of human beings to differentiate between tactile-vibratory stimuli with the same fundamental frequency but with different spectral content, this study concerns discrimination tasks comparing audio and haptic performances. Using an up-down 1 dB step adaptive procedure, the experimental protocol consists of measuring the discrimination threshold between a pure tone signal and a stimulus composed of two concurrent pure tones, changing the amplitude and frequency of the second tone. The task is performed employing exactly the same experimental apparatus (computer, AD-DA converters, amplifiers and drivers) for both audio and tactile modalities. The results show that it is …

Wii Remote is the main controller for Nintendo's Wii con- sole. Thanks to the use of accelerometer and optical sensor technology, it presents motion sensing capability, which implies gesture recognition and intuitive pointing. This paper presents an innovative approach to online fruition
of theater performances. Web applications like traditional viewers are
already available for the wide audience of Internet users. Our proposal
aims at adding both interactivity and multi-layer fruition, and a way

This paper deals with the automatic extraction of synchronization data from IEEE 1599-2008, an XML-based standard aiming at a comprehensive description of music. Within such format, audio tracks and video contents related to the same music piece can be referred to the occurrence of symbolic music events. In this way, digital objects are mutually synchronized, too. The goal is to show how timing information can be easily extracted from an IEEE 1599-2008 file, converted into a suitable format, and finally employed in a multimedia editing environment in order to produce an automatic segmentation of media objects.
