Treatment Of Dissolved Metals For Direct Potable Reuse, Cesar Alberto Alvarez
Treatment Of Dissolved Metals For Direct Potable Reuse, Cesar Alberto Alvarez
Open Access Theses & Dissertations
In the process of direct potable reuse (DPR), the bulk of the removal of dissolved metals removal is accomplished by reverse osmosis. This treatment is especially important in wastewater containing contaminants from industrial processes. The goal of this research was to evaluate the performance of DPR with respect to the removal of salinity and dissolved metals to meet drinking standards. Samples were collected from the El Paso Water Utilities Advanced Water Purification pilot system throughout various points in the treatment process. The samples were analyzed for their concentration of ions with Ion Chromatography (IC) and dissolved metals using an Inductively …
Recovery Of Nutrient Nitrogen From Municipal Wastewater Residuals By Gas Membrane Separation, Evelyn Rios
Recovery Of Nutrient Nitrogen From Municipal Wastewater Residuals By Gas Membrane Separation, Evelyn Rios
Open Access Theses & Dissertations
There are relatively high amounts of ammonia returned to the headworks of a municipal wastewater plant that are extracted from the dewatering process. This ammonia load contributes to a significant oxygen demand in the secondary treatment, requiring greater air blower energy costs. This goal of this research was to evaluate the feasibility of the recovery of an ammonium sulfate product from belt press filtrate. The objectives of this research were to: (1) analyze wastewater treatment average monthly data flows and constituents with respect to ammonia nitrification, (2) the evaluate the technical performance of a two sage gas-separation membrane for recovering …
A Study Of International Wastewater Challenges And Policy In The Tijuana River Watershed, Gloria Ann Villaverde
A Study Of International Wastewater Challenges And Policy In The Tijuana River Watershed, Gloria Ann Villaverde
Open Access Theses & Dissertations
Since the 1930s, untreated and undertreated sewage from Tijuana, Baja California, México has been released into the Tijuana River Watershed causing contamination of the water supply, crops, the Tijuana Estuary and California beaches. Passage of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) has exacerbated the problem by causing population and industrial growth explosions for which there have been insufficient services to meet the needs of the people. The waters of the Tijuana River flow (from México) north over the International Border, into the Tijuana Estuary, discharge out to the Pacific Ocean and often flow north, up the California Coast; therefore, …
