Algebra Of Tankers, Margaret M. Romero

Theses and Dissertations

The Air Force's aerial refueling tanker aircraft provide essential support for deployment and employment of combat and combat support aircraft, by extending their endurance and enhancing fighting efficiency. As the lead command for air refuelers, Air Mobility Command (AMC) must frequently examine the capability of current and proposed tanker fleets to meet mission requirements due to limited tanker resources. Analysts in AMC primarily use the Combined Mating and Ranging Plans System to provide actual tanker/receiver aircraft schedules and flight plans that take into account numerous system constraints. However, this tool can take weeks to run. Even recently developed quick look …

Combining And Analyzing The Tanker And Aircrew Scheduling Heuristics, Cem Boke Mar 2003

Combining And Analyzing The Tanker And Aircrew Scheduling Heuristics, Cem Boke

Theses and Dissertations

Air refueling is an integral part of U.S. air power across a wide range of military operations. It is an essential capability in the conduct of air operations worldwide and is especially important when overseas basing is limited or not available. The planning, tasking, and scheduling of aerial refueling require solution of two major problems: assigning and scheduling of tankers to refueling points and efficiently assigning crews to each tanker. To address the scheduling of tankers, Wiley (2001) developed an efficient tabu search approach. Combs (2002) developed another tabu search approach to assign crews to tankers. This research combines the …

A Multiple Ant Colony Metaheuristic For The Air Refueling Tanker Assignment Problem, Ronjon Annaballi Mar 2002

A Multiple Ant Colony Metaheuristic For The Air Refueling Tanker Assignment Problem, Ronjon Annaballi

Theses and Dissertations

The performance of the Nuclear Facility (NFAC) incident module in modeling a nuclear reactor accident is evaluated. Fallout predictions are compared with air concentration measurements of I-131 in Europe over a five-day period. Two categories of source term specifications are used: NFAC-generated source terms based on plant conditions and accident severity, and user-defined source terms based on specifying the release of I-131. The Atmospheric Transport Model Evaluation Study report source term provided the needed detailed release information. The Air Force Combat Climatology Center provided weather data covering Europe during the release's 11-day duration. For the NFAC-generated source terms as few …
