Research On Building Mechanism Model Simulation In Energy-Saving Control, Bai Yang, Decheng Yuan, Li Ling Mar 2020

Research On Building Mechanism Model Simulation In Energy-Saving Control, Bai Yang, Decheng Yuan, Li Ling

Journal of System Simulation

Abstract: In the existing building system, the energy consumption is huge, the control system is complex, and the electricity cost is high. In order to reduce the cost of electricity, the mechanism model of the building is established for simulation. The accuracy of the model is verified by simulation to confirm the model applicability to the building system. Comparing the constant electricity price with the time-varying electricity price, the system under the model predictive control can response to the price change of electricity with time and can achieve the cost control and energy-saving.

Mechanical and Materials Engineering Faculty Publications and Presentations

A broad range of building performance monitoring, sampling, and evaluation was conducted periodically after construction and spanning more than a year, for an occupied office building constructed using mass timber elements such as cross-laminated timber (CLT) floor and roof panels, as well as glue-laminated timber (GLT) beams and columns. This case study contributes research on monitoring indoor environmental quality in buildings, describing one of the few studies of an occupied mass timber building, and analyzing data in three areas that impact occupant experience: indoor air quality, bacterial community composition, and floor vibration. As a whole, the building was found to …

Heat-Physical Calculation Of Constructions Of Building Foundations According To The Requirements Of Heat Protect Rate Of Buildings, E. Tulakov, Sh. Sirojiddinov Jul 2018

Heat-Physical Calculation Of Constructions Of Building Foundations According To The Requirements Of Heat Protect Rate Of Buildings, E. Tulakov, Sh. Sirojiddinov

Problems of Architecture and Construction

Quite often, the foundations are combined with the walls of basements. Their reliable operation can be ensured only in the presence of thermal insulation of external structures in contact with the ground. The need for insulation is due to the fact that heat loss through the underground part of the building in some cases up to 20% of the total heat loss. In the presence of a heated basement, insulation will protect the walls of the basement from freezing, will help prevent condensation, dampness and mold development.

Reduced Order Modeling For Virtual Building Commissioning, Sean Rosin May 2018

Reduced Order Modeling For Virtual Building Commissioning, Sean Rosin

Boise State University Theses and Dissertations

Model order reduction can help reduce the time and monetary constraints associated with building commissioning and significantly decrease overall building energy consumption through virtual commissioning. This research aimed to determine the effectiveness of using reduced order models to simulate the overall building energy consumption, and to estimate the energy savings from control-based commissioning recommendations.

A case study building was modeled using a ‘Lumped RC’ thermal model with three thermal resistances and capacitances (3R3C) for the building interior and a 2R1C model describing the building foundation. Due to energy consumption being dependent on building systems, this model was coupled with a …

Building Entry Flood Barrier, Richard Esker, Shannon Mccall, Andrew Udovich, Brian Foust Jan 2018

Building Entry Flood Barrier, Richard Esker, Shannon Mccall, Andrew Udovich, Brian Foust

Williams Honors College, Honors Research Projects

The purpose of this project is to develop a flood barrier that would resist flood water from entering through the doorways of a building. The goal is to mitigate extensive flooding within a structure. After the disastrous weather events that impacted American citizens late in the year of 2017, the team was inspired to develop a project to help disaster victims. Through extensive preliminary and market research, it was discovered that flooding is a serious issue that affects people all over the world. A product to stop flooding could benefit people in developed countries, but it could also help citizens …
