Recent advancements in design methodologies have greatly enhanced the dependable design of offshore structures. However, rigorous validation remains crucial for confirming the efficacy of these designs. Concrete, a material widely used in offshore structures, faces significant challenges under harsh environmental conditions such as chloride ion exposure from seawater. This exposure leads to deterioration of concrete properties and poses a severe threat to the sustainability of these structures. Cracking in concrete, both in new and operational phases, often leads to chloride-driven corrosion of reinforcing steel, which shortens the service life of the structures. This study aims to quantify the depth of …

Abstract: Earthquake engineering assessments are essential for evaluating the seismic response of structures. Nonlinear dynamic analysis is a highly effective method for evaluating seismic re-sponse, considering the complex, three-dimensional, and dynamic behaviour of structures during earthquakes. The complexity of seismic damage assessment arises from ground motion and struc-tural modelling parameters. Spectral matching is a key method in seismic codes and aids in selecting earthquake accelerograms for performance- and force-based designs. Spectrum-matched data is increasingly used to estimate nonlinear structural responses. Spec-tral matching utilizes the wavelet adjustments introduced by Abra-hamson (1992) and refined by Hancock et al. (2006) to adjust earth-quake …

In this study, we conducted comprehensive experiments to assess and compare the performance of pure diesel fuel against biodiesel produced from corn oil in various blend ratios (15/85, 30/70, 45/55, and 60/40) in a conventional four-stroke, direct-injection diesel engine, fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber at the end of the compression stroke, allowing for efficient combustion and power generation over four distinct phases: intake, compression, power, and exhaust. Each fuel blend was tested at an engine speed of 16,000 rpm across different load conditions (low, medium, and high). Key performance metrics, including volumetric fuel consumption, exhaust smoke, and …
