A Pseudo Spot Price Of Electricity Algorithm Applied To Environmental Economic Active Power Dispatch Problem, Celal Yaşar Jan 2012

A Pseudo Spot Price Of Electricity Algorithm Applied To Environmental Economic Active Power Dispatch Problem, Celal Yaşar

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

In this study, an environmental economic active power dispatch problem is transformed into an optimization problem with a single-objective function by applying the weighted sum method (WSM) and the conic scalarization method (CSM). A pseudo spot price of electricity algorithm (PSPA) is used to solve the transformed problem. This is demonstrated on an example problem, which is a lossy electrical power system having only thermal units The WSM and CSM methods are applied to the example problem, and the weight factor values of these methods is increased from 0 to 1 by a step size of 0.1. For each possible …

A Critical Review On Electromagnetic Precursors And Earthquake Prediction, Levent Sevgi̇ Jan 2007

A Critical Review On Electromagnetic Precursors And Earthquake Prediction, Levent Sevgi̇

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Seismo-electromagnetic precursory-based earthquake prediction studies are criticized in terms of their scientific content, problem complexity, signal excitation and propagation, causal relations with earthquakes, and public awareness and expectations. One aim is to trigger a new debate on this hot topic in the Electromagnetic Society.

Readjusting The Current Trend In Electrical Power Engineering, Johan Smit, Peter Morshuis, Edward Gulski Jan 2006

Readjusting The Current Trend In Electrical Power Engineering, Johan Smit, Peter Morshuis, Edward Gulski

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

In this paper the electrical power education curriculum is analyzed from the viewpoint of the electrical power industry and from the viewpoint of young people that contemplate their future academic study. From the perspective of young people in industrialized countries contemplating their future and the possibilities of an academic study, the current curriculum in (power) engineering lacks attraction. The number of freshmen still shows a decreasing trend. This paper is aimed to be a contribution towards readjusting this trend

Wind Power, Distributed Generation: New Challenges, New Solutions, Vladimiro Miranda Jan 2006

Wind Power, Distributed Generation: New Challenges, New Solutions, Vladimiro Miranda

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

This paper discusses some issues related with the growing importance of wind power and in modern power systems and some challenges raised by the emergence of distributed generation, and how computational intelligence and other modern techniques have been able to provide valuable results in solving the new problems. It presents some solutions obtained with a number of computational intelligence techniques and their application to real cases.
