Further Evidence For Surface Properties Of Porous Silicon Resulting In Electroluminescence, Zhan-Jun Zhang, Bin Wu, Jing-Jian Li, Zhong-Fan Liu, Sheng-Min Cai
Journal of Electrochemistry
The electroluminescence of porous silicon in solutions at positive biases was investigated by luminescence spectrometer. The electroluminescence of porous silicon in solutions mainly depended on its surface properties. The elelctroluminescence was much enhanced when the sample of porous silicon was electrolyzed once again which had undergone an electroluminescence test. The tests of both cyclic voltammetry and the luminescence of the sample of porous silicon prepared by repeated electrolysis provided further evidence that the electroluminescence of porous silicon in solutions at positive biases stemmed from the oxidation of Si-H on the surface of porous silicon. The voltage tunable emitting for porous …

Raman Spectroscopic Study On Mechanism Of Aluminum Triphosphate Pigment, Zhi-Jun Gu, Yong-Gui Liao, Zhi-Gang Zhang, Qi-Long Guo, Fang-Teng Su
Journal of Electrochemistry
The painted steel sample whose coating contained anticorrosive pigment has been investigated by Raman spectroscopy. The protective mechanism of aluminum triphosphate pigment for A3 steel is proposed as follows: Aluminum triphosphate can be dissolved and arrive at the surface of the steel. The dissolved triphosphate ions can complex with ferric ions. And the new products, namely ferric triphosphate, can strongly adhere at the surface of the steel by chemical bonds slowly. At last, a compact protective film, which effectively separates the steel substrate from the aggressive media, is formed at the steel surface.

Uncertainty In Determination Of Hydrogen Diffusion Coefficient In Metal Hydride Electrode Based On The Transition Region Of Diffusion-Controlled Impedance, Xian-Xia Yuan, Nai-Xin Xu
Journal of Electrochemistry
Hydrogen diffusion coefficient in MlNi3.75Co0.65 Mn0.4Al0.2 metal hydride electrode has been determined with transition region of diffusion-controlled impedance. Multiple solutions were obtained at each data point because of the periodic characteristic of some functions used in the calculation, and the maximum difference between the solutions reached several orders of magnitude. On the other hand, the solutions varied for different data points in the transition region of diffusion-controlled impedance of the same experimental plot. It could be concluded that this method is not so well defined and some modification is required.

Journal of Electrochemistry
Al-substituted α-Ni(OH)2 was prepared by a complexation-precipitation method and characterized by XRD.The electrochemical performance was tested by the charge-discharge method. The experimental results of orthogonal test showed that the effect order of some key preparative conditions on the electrochemical performance of Al-substituted α-Ni(OH)2 was the concentration of aqueous ammonia, the content of aluminum and pH value. The optimum prepareative conditions for obtaining the sample with maximum specific discharge capacity (304 mAh·g-1) were 0.5 mol·L-1 aqueous ammonia, 15 mol% Al content and pH 11.0.

Journal of Electrochemistry
A new electroactive poly (2,2' diaminophenyloxydisulfide) (PDAPD) was successfully synthesized from acetonitrile(AN)/tetrahydrofuran (THF) solutions containing the supporting electrolyte (LiClO4) and the various kinds of acids (HCl, CF3COOH, CCl3COOH) on Pt electrode by consecutive cyclic voltammiry. The effects of the concentrations of supporting electrolyte (LiClO4) and acid (HCl, CF3COOH, CCl3COOH) on electrodepositon of PDAPD film were investigated. The best experimental conditions for electrosynthesis of a highly electroactive conducting polymer film are that the concentrations are 0.1 mol/L and between 0.05 mol/L~0.5 mol/L,respectively for LiClO4 and HCl.

Journal of Electrochemistry
AC voltammetry, linear sweep voltammetry, and cyclic voltammetry were applied to study the anodic corrosion of Pb, Pb-1.0 at% La and Pb-1.0 at% Sm electrodes in 4.5 mol·dm-3 H2SO4 solution (25 ℃). The experiment results show that samarium can inhibit the anodic corrosion of lead and decrease the impedance of anodic Pb(Ⅱ) film. Lanthanum can also decrease the impedance of the anodic Pb(Ⅱ)film, but the effect is smaller.

Adsorption And Oxidation Of Methanol On Pt And Sb, S Modified Pt Electrodes Using Cyclic Voltammetry And Eqcm, Guo-Liang Chen, Sheng-Pei Chen, Heng Lin, Xing-Hong Zheng, Shi-Gang Sun
Journal of Electrochemistry
The processes of adsorption and oxidation of methanol on Pt, Pt/Sb ad and Pt/S ad electrodes were studied by using cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance (EQCM). The results demonstrated that the oxidation of methanol depends strongly on oxidation states of electrode surface. Sb adatoms on Pt surface can adsorb oxygen at relatively low potentials, and exhibit catalytic effects for methanol oxidation. In contrast to Pt electrodes, the oxidation peak potential of methanol in this case negatively shifted to about 130 mV. In a contrary, the oxidation of Sad atoms consumes oxygen species of Pt electrode surface. As …

Characterization And Electrochemical Investigation Of Boron-Doped Mesocarbon Microbeads Anode Materials For Lithium-Ion Battery, Mao-Hui Chen, Guo-Tao Wu, Guang-Ming Zhu, Jin-Kua You, Zu-Geng Lin
Journal of Electrochemistry
The anodic performances of boron doped and undoped mesocarbon microbeads(MCMBs) were comparatively studied and the structures were characterized by XPS, SEM, XRD and electrochemical measurements. It was found that boron doping samples greatly increased the degree of graphitization and the crystallite size, leading to quite different morphology. Electrochemical discharge/charge cycle tests indicate that lithium intercalation occurred at a little higher potential for the boron doped MCMBs, being attended by greater irreversible capacity loss.

Journal of Electrochemistry
The microstructure and electrochemical properties of Zr0.9Ti0.1(Ni,Co,Mn,V)2.1 alloys prepared by both the melt-spinning method and the conventional induction melting were investigated. XRD studies show that Zr0.9Ti 0.1(Ni,Co,Mn,V)2.1 alloys at as-cast, melt-spinning and annealing are all face center cubic structure with C15 laves phase, the higher the melt-spinning rate, the more the amorphous content. The electrochemical measurements show that melt-spinning alloys have better active behavior, low discharge capacity (< 280 mAh/g); but after annealed, the alloys are activated completely with 30 cycles, the capacities about 340 mAh/g are higher than those of as-cast and melt-spinning alloys; the annealec alloys have a better cycle stability than that of as-cast alloy, and the higher the melt-spinning rate is, the more stable the alloy becomes; at 300 mAh/g current density, the capacity of annealed 40 m/s alloy is up to 85% of the maximum capacity after 800 cycles, the capacity decay rate is about 6.9%.
