This is the first US Army manual on technical intelligence. The concept of technical intelligence developed during World War II. Technical intelligence doctrine was formalized by a series of army training circulars and other directives. Toward the end of WWII a new army Field Manual 30-15, Examination of Enemy Personnel, Repatriates, Civilians, Documents, and Materiel (June 1954) was issued, but that manual did not reflect the World War II technical intelligence experience or actual army practices.
