A Suggested Mortgage System Model For Egypt, Mohamed Mohamed Galal El-Barkouky
Archived Theses and Dissertations
This research tackled various gaps that existed in the Egyptian mortgage practice system pertaining to non-standardized loan underwriting procedure, inefficiency of mortgage brokers and real estate agents, absence of appraisal standards and qualifications, unclear land titles, inefficient procedure of property registration, absence of a qualified mortgage secondary market and lack of credit enhancement tools. Also, nonexistence of various types of mortgage instruments, relatively high mortgage lending rate, inefficient mortgage subsidies, unverified means of foreclosure were major areas of concern in the Egyptian mortgage practice system that were commented on. The study presents recommendations for improvements to the existing Egyptian mortgage …

Concrete is widely used construction material that is known to posses good mechanical properties and is characterized by an overall durable performance. However, the aesthetics of concrete is on the whole non friendly. Hence efforts have been exerted to enhance concrete appearance which can also minimize surface finish costs. Exposed aggregate concrete is a recent technique in which portions of the coarse aggregates are exposed to air by removing small layers of mortar cover. Aggregates exposure techniques include the use of wash-off, water jetting and sandblasting techniques; some of which are accompanied by a surface retarders. However, comparative data on …

Motion Detection Using Randomized Methods, Howaida Mohamed Naguib
Archived Theses and Dissertations
The detection and recogni6on of a moving object in a sequence of time varying images proves to be a very important task in machine intelligence in general and computer vision in particular. Recently, parametric domain techniques have been successfully used with a number of variants. In such melhods, the image is transfonned into some parameter space and the motion detection process is applied in that space. A recent parametric domain is the Randomized Hough Transform (RHT) that uses random sampling mechanism in the image space, score accumulation in the parameter space, and bridge between them using a converging mapping. The …
Properties Of Concrete Mixtures Incorporating Magnetized Water, Mohamed Abdel Raouf Metwally
Properties Of Concrete Mixtures Incorporating Magnetized Water, Mohamed Abdel Raouf Metwally
Archived Theses and Dissertations
Water is a vital constituent that controls much of concrete properties such as strength and workability. Water is added to concrete in the form of a liquid at ambient temperature. However, it is occasionally added in the form of hot water in freezing conditions or in the form of ice/chilled water in hot weathering conditions. Recently, work has been conducted to magnetize water to adequate level before being incorporated in concrete. Indications show that some improvements can occur to concrete made with magnetized water. However, there is scarcity of data as to how such magnetized water can influence the properties …

Development And Evaluation Of Lime Mortars For Restoration Of Historic Buildings And Monuments, Tarek Said Mahfouz
Development And Evaluation Of Lime Mortars For Restoration Of Historic Buildings And Monuments, Tarek Said Mahfouz
Archived Theses and Dissertations
Monuments and historic buildings and sites are regarded as a national treasure of any country. This is particularly true for Egypt that possesses a wealth of historic and heritage buildings covering the entire life span of human civilization. It must be preserved and safeguarded not only as historic evidences but also as works of art. Most of these structures used lime based mortars as binding material. These structures are deteriorating at a rate faster than our ability to renovate them. The repair and rehabilitation of old historic walls and mortars involve a complex interaction of existing and new elements. Engineers …

Dimensionality Reduction Of Feature Space In Pattern Analysis, Basma Fathi Hussain
Dimensionality Reduction Of Feature Space In Pattern Analysis, Basma Fathi Hussain
Archived Theses and Dissertations
An important factor affecting the classifier performance is the feature size. It is desired to minimize the feature size due to its effect on measurement cost and classifier accuracy. Both Principle Component Analysis (PCA) and Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) are statistical approaches for "Dimensionality Reduction" that are based on linear transformation, but are unsuitable for applications that are highly nonlinear functions of the original data. In this thesis, the effect of applying approximation methods on dimensionality reduction of feature space in pattern analysis is examined. The approximation methods are applied either in the signal domain or the transform domain. Mathematical …
Improved Compressed Earth Blocks, Tarek Mahmoud Ahmed Elgindy
Improved Compressed Earth Blocks, Tarek Mahmoud Ahmed Elgindy
Archived Theses and Dissertations
Bricks and blocks, being two of the most important building materials in our construction field, can be made out of different materials, most popular of which are earthen materials. Ancient civilizations used earthen materials as a cheap and easy way to make bricks from which they built their houses and shelters. Ancient Egyptians used "mud" (which is technically silt and clay) to make bricks which we call now adobe. These days, despite the low cost of adobe it is loosing grounds in the construction of housing because of its very low compressive strength and poor durability against weathering. Accordingly, cement …
