Research On Robot Dynamic Obstacle Avoidance Method Based On Improved A* And Dynamic Window Algorithm, Yan Zhang, Binghua Li, Tao Huo, Rong Liu

Journal of System Simulation

Abstract: Aiming at the problems that the traditional A* algorithm has too many extension nodes and path turning points, and can't deal with dynamic obstacles in complex environment, a robot obstacle avoidance method combining improved A* algorithm and DWA algorithm is proposed. The A* algorithm improves the neighborhood expansion method and effectively avoids the problem of redundant nodes in the classical four-neighborhood expansion and the path through the obstacle in the eight-neighborhood expansion. A quadrant selection method is proposed, which can effectively reduce the number of extended nodes in the path search process. The redundant point elimination strategy is proposed …

Modeling And Simulation Of Hybrid Traffic Flow Considering The Inherent Dynamics Of Cacc Vehicular Platoons, Xiujian Yang, Jingjing Huang, Xi Wang

Journal of System Simulation

Abstract: To investigate the characteristics of single-lane mixed traffic flow with the presence of cooperative adaptive cruise control (CACC) vehicle platoons, a modeling approach based on cellular automata is proposed. This method distinguishes between the car-following strategies of human-driven vehicles and CACC vehicles, incorporating dynamic inter-vehicle spacing within the platoon and actual control behaviors to construct a mixed traffic flow model with inherent dynamic properties. The model enables an in-depth analysis of the influence of platoon features, such as geometric formation, carfollowing control strategies, and platoon size, on the characteristics of mixed traffic flow. It also allows us to study …

Journal of System Simulation

Abstract: To cope with cooperative guidance against multiple targets, a distributed cooperative guidance for multigroup flight vehicles to strike multiple targets with separated impact time is proposed. The collaborative variables for multigroup flight vehicles with separated impact time are given, and the guidance law in the line of sight (LOS) is proposed. The guidance laws on the normal and lateral directions of the LOS are proposed to make the LOS deflection angle rate and LOS the inclination angle rate converge rapidly, which ensures that each vehicle is able to strike the target. The finite-time convergence of the proposed guidance laws …

Soft Sensor Modeling Based On Adaptive Sparse Broad Learning System⋅, Kangping Du, Lin Sui, Weili Xiong

Journal of System Simulation

Abstract: To address the challenges posed by nonlinearity and the coupling of multiple features in complex industrial processes, resulting in increased model complexity and decreased performance, a soft sensor modeling method based on adaptive sparse broad learning system is proposed. Building upon the lateral enhancement transmission of features, the trace least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) is further used to optimize the feature weights of the network, adaptively adjusting the penalty intensity based on the correlation between different variables to enhance the feature extraction capabilities of the model. The Dropout mechanism is introduced in the enhanced part, and the …

Quantifying Wellbore Effects During Co2 Sequestration In A Saline Aquifer, Uzoma Johnpaul Ajugwe

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is a strategy for mitigating climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions from large stationary sources like fossil-fuel-fired power stations. One method of CCS involves carbon dioxide (CO2) sequestration in deep saline aquifers, where supercritical CO2 is injected into an aquifer. The success of such projects depends on accurate predictions of CO2 behavior within the subsurface, which are obtained through numerical simulations.

TOUGHREACT, a renowned simulation tool, models subsurface fluid flow, geochemical interactions, and solute transport, providing insights into the feasibility of CO2 sequestration projects. A critical aspect of these simulations is the apportioning of …

How’S It Growing? Tools For Observing Snow And Sea Ice In A Changing Arctic Ocean, Ian Alexander Raphael Jun 2025

How’S It Growing? Tools For Observing Snow And Sea Ice In A Changing Arctic Ocean, Ian Alexander Raphael

Dartmouth College Ph.D Dissertations

September Arctic sea ice extent has diminished by roughly 50% in the 45 years since satellite observations began. The Arctic Ocean may experience ice-free summers within the next decade, with implications for habitat, resource extraction, geopolitics, and local and global climate change. To predict how Arctic sea ice will change in the future, we need to understand its behavior in the present. In situ sea ice mass balance measurements (snow accumulation, ice growth, snow and ice surface melt, and bottom melt) are essential for studying the processes driving rapid changes in the ice pack, and for validating remote sensing measurements …

Student Publications

This study presents the application of time-resolved particle image velocimetry (TR-PIV) to measure the mean and fluctuating velocity components in a turbulent boundary layer (TBL) over an axisymmetric body of revolution. A narrow wall-normal strip of the flow was captured using a synchronised high-speed laser and camera at a recording frequency of up to 80 kHz. The resulting streamwise and wall-normal velocity TR-PIV data were validated against hot-wire anemometry measurements and direct numerical simulations (DNS) of a flat plate under matched flow conditions. The mean flow results showed good agreement between all methods, while the expected attenuation due to the …

Shrinkage Study In Photopolymerisable Hybrid Sol-Gel Through Holographic Patterning, Jamshed Aftab, Izabela Naydenova, Tatsiana Mikulchyk

Articles

Photopolymerisation induced shrinkage of holographic materials is one of the main factors which needs to be considered for designing holographic optical elements (HOEs) with high accuracy in light redirection with maximum efficiency. This work studies the shrinkage in photopolymerisable hybrid sol-gel (PHSG) by examining the properties of volume transmission gratings recorded in PHSG layers. It explores both the dependence of shrinkage on the holographic grating parameters (thickness, spatial frequency, slant angle) and the effect of material aging. By using the fringe-plane rotation model, shrinkage is found to have the maximum value of 1.37 % at 765 lines/mm (19.36° slant angle) …

Correlative studies have linked human gut microbes to specific health conditions. Alistipes is one such microbial genus negatively linked to inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). However, the protective role of Alistipes in IBD is understudied, and the underlying molecular mechanisms remain unknown. In this study, colonization of Il10-deficient mice with Alistipes timonensis DSM 27924 delays colitis development. Colonization does not significantly alter the gut microbiome composition, but instead shifts the host plasma lipidome, increasing phosphatidic acids while decreasing triglycerides. Outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) derived from Alistipes are detected in the plasma of colonized mice, carrying potentially immunomodulatory metabolites into the …

Investigation Of Retention And Dehydration Of Preformed Particle Gel For Conformance Control In Fractured Carbonates, Abdulaziz A. Almakimi, Abdullah O. Almansour, Junchen Liu, Baojun Bai, Ibnelwaleed A. Hussein

Geosciences and Geological and Petroleum Engineering Faculty Research & Creative Works

Preformed particle gel (PPG) treatment has proved to be among the most effective methods to reduce excessive water production in fractured reservoirs. The blocking ability of PPGs to fractures or fracture-like features is highly dependent on injected gel properties and volume. Gel dehydration during extrusion through fracture is common and has a considerable effect on gel properties, transport, and plugging efficiency. As the gel particles propagate through the fracture, continuous dehydration is often associated and causes the gel to concentrate and require high-pressure gradients to move. Dehydration might be desirable to a certain limit because it can help to form …
