A Study Of The Fluorspar Industry Of The United States With Respect To Its Future, Sidney Kincaid Reid Jan 1927

A Study Of The Fluorspar Industry Of The United States With Respect To Its Future, Sidney Kincaid Reid

Professional Degree Theses

"The foregoing study shows that (1) there is ample reserve of fluorspar in the United States to take care of its requirements for many years, (2) if developed and scheduled on a production rate equal to at least seventy-five percent of the annual domestic requirements, (3) which will permit a sufficient increase in production rate in time of war to take care of increased wartime requirements"--Conclusions and Recommendations, page 83.

Economic Geology Of Northern Angola, Artileus Vosteen Eulich Jan 1924

Economic Geology Of Northern Angola, Artileus Vosteen Eulich

Professional Degree Theses

"Most of the mineral deposits have been known to exist for over a generation but efforts to mine them usually met with failure. The most signal discovery, that of diamonds, was made only in recent years. They are the only substance coming under the category of mineral which are being exploited on a large scale. Energetic efforts are being made to find petroleum in commercial quantities. There are still vast areas practically unexplored which if thoroughly prospected might lead to more discoveries. It is difficulty, however, for one who has prospected for two years in Angola without any particular success …

The Measurement Of Compressed Air And Its Consumption In Rock Drills, Homer Kent Sherry, William Porri Jan 1912

The Measurement Of Compressed Air And Its Consumption In Rock Drills, Homer Kent Sherry, William Porri

Bachelors Theses

"The object of this thesis is to investigate the measurement of compressed air and to determine its consumption in rock drills. Our intention at first was to run more exhaustive tests on the drills, but due to the large amount of work necessary in rigging up the apparatus and computing results, we found it necessary to curtail our work to representative types of the hammer and the piston machines. We regret being unable to give more complete data in regard to the drills, but hope to point out fields for future work since, with the increased facilities now at hand, …

Modern Cyanide Practice, Harvey Edson Smith Jan 1910

Modern Cyanide Practice, Harvey Edson Smith

Bachelors Theses

"It is noticable sic that about all of the recent improvements in cyanide practise sic have been along mechanical rather than chemical lines. the use of oxidizers such as air, ozone, sodium peroxide, etc., the use of the salts of lead, and even the addition of a coating of lead to the zinc shavings in the extractor boxes were all recommended when the process was first advocated but sometimes for different reasons. In the early days of the process the addition of hypochlorites, alkaline persulphates, and the use of mercuric cyanide was also investigated but has not proven satisfactory owing …
