Organic Nitrogen Forms Of Different Rank Coals In Handan-Fengfeng Mining Area, China, Hao Guoqiang, Hu Sherong

Coal Geology & Exploration

Nitrogen is one of the common elements in coal. The occurrence forms of nitrogen in coal are various and vary with coal rank. Based on X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), taking Handan-Fengfeng mining area as an example, organic nitrogen forms of different rank coals(Rran = 1.08%–3.67%) were studied, and the variation of the relative abundance of each organic nitrogen with rank was further discussed. The results show that four kinds of nitrogen forms are considered for the coals according to binding energies of N 1s XPS sub-peaks, corresponding to N-6, N-5, N-Q and N-X. N-5 is the most abundant organic nitrogen …

In order to investigate the rupture process and acoustic emission characteristics of shale under fluid-solid coupling, the numerical simulation of fluid-solid coupling of the Niutitang Formation shale in different bedding angle in the northern part of the Qianbei area was carried out by RFPA2D-Flow numerical software. Studies have shown that due to the influence of the bedding structure, the compressive strength and elastic modulus of shale show obvious anisotropy. The rupture process of shale can be divided into three stages: elasticity, yielding and destruction. With the change of the bedding angle, the shale finally showed three failure modes, namely oblique …

The urgency, complexity and uncertainty of mine flood accidents determine that traditional emergency decision-making models are difficult to meet the requirements of efficient emergency rescue. Using the “scenario-response” model for emergency decision-making of mine flood accidents can effectively solve the timely real-time decision-making of specific disaster scenario after disasters occur. Using a multi-case analysis method to analyze 11 typical mine flood accidents in recent years, based on the general structural description of the accident, six elements of the mine flood scenario were summarized(inrush water source, water inrush channel, water inrush position, water output, submerged range, living space) as the scenario …

Application Of Small Scale Curvature In Small And Micro-Structure Interpretation Of Coal Field, Cheng Yan

Coal Geology & Exploration

The interpretation and delineation of small and micro-structure which acts as one of the main disaster sources in coal mine is an important guarantee for safe and efficient production of coal mines. However, it can't satisfy the geological guarantee for precise mining by only using the traditional seismic exploration methods to solve this problem. Therefore, in this paper, we reconstruct the seismic data by extracting the components above 60 Hz from the 3D seismic data, and then extract minimum negative curvature to interpret and analyze the small and micro-structures in study areas. By comparing the revealed micro-structures and explained results …

Development Of A Sensor Suite For Atmospheric Boundary Layer Measurement With A Small Multirotor Unmanned Aerial System, Kevin A. Adkins, Christopher J. Swinford, Peter D. Wambolt, Gordon Bease

International Journal of Aviation, Aeronautics, and Aerospace

Small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS) are increasingly being used to conduct atmospheric research. Because of the dynamic nature and inhomogeneity of the atmospheric boundary layer (ABL), the ability of instrumented sUAS to make on-demand 3-dimensional high-resolution spatial measurements of atmospheric parameters makes them particularly suited to ABL investigations. Both fixed-wing and multirotor sUAS have been used for ABL investigations. Most investigations to date have included in-situ measurement of thermodynamic quantities such as temperature, pressure and humidity. When wind has been measured, a variety of strategies have been used. Two of the most popular techniques have been deducing wind from inertial …

Real-Time Urban Weather Observations For Urban Air Mobility, Kevin A. Adkins, Mustafa Akbas, Marc Compere

International Journal of Aviation, Aeronautics, and Aerospace

Cities of the future will have to overcome congestion, air pollution and increasing infrastructure cost while moving more people and goods smoothly, efficiently and in an eco-friendly manner. Urban air mobility (UAM) is expected to be an integral component of achieving this new type of city. This is a new environment for sustained aviation operations. The heterogeneity of the urban fabric and the roughness elements within it create a unique environment where flight conditions can change frequently across very short distances. UAM vehicles with their lower mass, more limited thrust and slower speeds are especially sensitive to these conditions. Since …
