Formula Electric : Powertrain, Mark Allison, Bryan Bidwell, Stuart Hopson, Jackson Smith, Carlos Streegan, Dominic Villa

Interdisciplinary Design Senior Theses

The Santa Clara Formula Electric team designed, and manufactured a powertrain for an electric racecar according to the rules prescribed by the SAE International Formula Electric competition. The powertrain is divided into subsystems: the battery pack, battery pack cooling system, motor controller, and the motor. The battery pack was constructed, but full electrical connection of all cells were not made. The pack was not integrated with the motor and motor controller. In addition, due to time constraints, extensive testing could not be completed.

Wireless Impact Detection System, Shawno Auwae, Kyle Terriere Jun 2013

Wireless Impact Detection System, Shawno Auwae, Kyle Terriere

Interdisciplinary Design Senior Theses

Recently, brain trauma caused by multiple concussions has become a pressing issue for contact sports, mainly American football players. The severity of the impacts in these sports have led to discussion concerning the standard safety equipment used, as well as the rules enforcing a certain style of play. Multiple studies have shown that concussions have damaging long-term effects, including dementia and memory loss. The dominant professional football organization, the National Football League (NFL), employs qualified athletic trainers to diagnose and treat players with concussions, but many incidents still go undetected. This problem is magnified at the youth level, where the …

Design Of A Microstrip Bandpass Filter For 3.1-10.6 Ghz Uwb Systems, Cem Cansever May 2013

Design Of A Microstrip Bandpass Filter For 3.1-10.6 Ghz Uwb Systems, Cem Cansever

Electrical Engineering and Computer Science – Theses

In this thesis, ultra-wideband (UWB) microwave filters and design challenges are studied and, a microstrip UWB filter prototype design is presented. The UWB bandpass filter operating in the 3.6 GHz to 10.6 GHz frequency band is targeted to comply with the FCC spectral mask for UWB systems. The prototype filter is composed of quarter-wavelength spaced shunt stub transmission lines. The circuit is first simulated and optimized by using AWR DE simulation software tool. Then Sonnet EM Simulation and CST EM Simulation Tools are further utilized to obtain more accurate simulated results. The fabricated microstrip UWB bandpass filter is then measured …

Wireless Water Flow Meter Network In The Great Bay, Braden S. Blanchette Apr 2013

Wireless Water Flow Meter Network In The Great Bay, Braden S. Blanchette

Honors Theses and Capstones

The Oyster Restoration Program alongside the New Hampshire chapter of the Nature Conservancy is working towards developing new oyster beds throughout the Great Bay. Sedimentation is proving to be a vast problem by covering up the beds before they have a chance to grow to a healthy level. The many rivers entering the Great Bay are bringing the sediments from all over the region and limiting the ability of the program to develop the new beds. They need a way to measure the sedimentation rate, by measuring the flow rate of the rivers over a single tidal cycle in various …
