Generally, reliable speech recognition is a hard problem that required a combination solution of many techniques. Thus, the combinations of Al-Quran with speech recognition system is quite challenging task to be implemented. It is because the Quran sound, which had been recited by most of reciters will probably tend to differ a lot from one person to another. Although those Quranic sentences were particularly taken from the same verse, but the way of the sentence in Al-Quran been recited or delivered may be different, depend on reciters with the different levels of understanding of Tajweed rules. This paper seeks to …

Analytical Analysis Of Second-Order Stokes Wave In Brillouin Ring Fiber Laser, Faisal Rafiq Mahamd Adikan

Faisal Rafiq Mahamd Adikan

This paper details a theoretical modeling of Brillouin ring fiber laser which incorporates the interaction between multiple Brillouin Stokes signals. The ring cavity was pumped at several Brillouin pump (BP) powers and the output was measured through an optical coupler with various coupling ratios. The first-order Brillouin Stokes signal was saturated with the presence of the second-order Stokes signal in the cavity as a result of energy transfer between them. The outcome of the study found that the optimum point for the first-order Stokes wave performance is at laser power reduction of 10%. Resultantly, at the optimum output coupling ratio …

Dual-Phase Sensing For Early Detection Of Prepreg Structural Failures Via Etched Cladding Bragg Grating, Faisal Rafiq Mahamd Adikan

Faisal Rafiq Mahamd Adikan

A dual-phase optical fiber-based sensor for early detection against prepreg structural failures is proposed and successfully demonstrated. The sensor consists of an etched fiber Bragg grating (FBG) mounted onto an aluminium plate. The sensor is tested using a simple pressure and petrochemical test rig. By observing the shift of the reflected wavelength of the FBG sensor we can simultaneously detect two parameters: (i) pressure and (ii) petrochemical. The experimental results show the potential of using the FBG sensor for early detection of submarine oil pipe leaking. (C) 2011 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Dual-Mode Resonator And Switchless Reconfigurable Oscillator Based On Piezoelectric Aln Mems Technology, Chengjie Zuo, Jan Van Der Spiegel, Gianluca Piazza

Chengjie Zuo

For the first time, this work demonstrates a switchless dual-frequency (472 MHz and 1.94 GHz) reconfigurable CMOS oscillator using a single piezoelectric AlN microelectromechanical-systems resonator with coexisting S0 and S1 Lamb-wave modes of vibration. High performance (high quality factor Q and electromechanical coupling factor kt2 for a resonator and low phase noise for an oscillator) has been achieved for both the resonator and oscillator in terms of dual-mode operation. In particular, 1.94-GHz operation has the best phase noise performance at 1-MHz offset when compared with all previously reported CMOS oscillators that work at a similar frequency.

Distributed Generator And Their Effects On Distribution System Protection Performance, Hadi Zayandehroodi, Azah Mohamed, Hussain Shareef, Marjan Mohammadjafari

Dr. Hadi Zayandehroodi

The connection of distributed generators (DGs) to distribution networks greatly influences the performance and stability of such networks. Though DGs have significant economic and environmental benefits, increased penetration of DGs will impose significant technical barriers for the efficient and effective operation of bulk power systems. Increased fault current contribution and load flow changes are the major two impacts on utility systems, and these will affect existing protective relaying, especially overcurrent relays. To ensure safe and selective protection relay coordination, the impact of DGs should be taken into account when planning DG interconnection. This paper presents an introduction of distributed generators …

Analytical Study Of Nonlinear Phase Shift Through Stimulated Brillouin Scattering In Single Mode Fiber With The Pump Power Recycling Technique, Faisal Rafiq Mahamd Adikan

Faisal Rafiq Mahamd Adikan

We present a theoretical study of nonlinear phase shift through stimulated Brillouin scattering in single mode optical fiber. Analytical expressions describing the nonlinear phase shift for the pump and Stokes waves in the pump power recycling technique have been derived. The dependence of the nonlinear phase shift on the optical fiber length, the reflectivity of the optical mirror and the frequency detuning coefficient have been analyzed for different input pump power values. We found that with the recycling pump technique, the nonlinear phase shift due to stimulated Brillouin scattering reduced to less than 0.1 rad for 5 km optical fiber …

Gregory Keith Bartley Jr.

With the introduction of GPS technology, came the ability to produce maps of plant cover and health over large areas. By correlating the reflectance values of a plant with its respective GPS coordinates, we can form a bird’s eye view of relative plant health using different colors. The commercialization of high precision GPS receivers has allowed researchers to plot these maps with increased accuracy, limiting error to less than 1 inch.

Constructing New Technology: The Crop Circle Gps Cart In Pictures, Gregory Keith Bartley Jr., Brandon J. Horvath

Gregory Keith Bartley Jr.

The crop circle spectrometer represents a breakthrough in unbiased sensor data. Unlike traditional passive sensors, it pulses light at a speed of 20,000 times per second. With this comes the ability of these filters to discern reflectance measurements from that of natural sunlight, allowing it to be used in environments of sun, shade, and even darkness. From these various reflectance values at different wavelengths, we get measurements of plant health known as vegetation indices. And different vegetation indices can tell us different things about the health of a plant. Couple this with the recent advances in GPS technology, we can …

Nonlinear Multivariable Modeling Of Solid Oxide Fuel Cells Using Core Vector Regression, M. Mohammadi, M. Raoofat, Hesamoddin Marzooghi, G. B. Gharehpetiangharehpetian

Hesamoddin Marzooghi

This paper presents new steady-state and dynamic models for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) using core vector regression (CVR). So far, most of conventional SOFC models have been presented based on conversion laws. Due to complex mathematical equations used in these models, they are time-consuming and need large amount of memory to be applied for controller design, especially power electronic interface controller design, generation and load predictions, optimization and other studies. To overcome these problems, some black-box models, such as support vector machine (SVM) and artificial neural network (ANN)-based models have been also proposed for SOFC. In this paper, in …
