The Preparation And Physical Properties Of Benzene- And Toluene-Sulphonamides, Karl K. Kershner Jan 1920

The Preparation And Physical Properties Of Benzene- And Toluene-Sulphonamides, Karl K. Kershner

Masters Theses

"The formation of sulphonamide derivatives is often of distinct importance. These substances are easily purified and give sharp mepting points which make them of value for identification phases of research work. Also they are of value commercially as in the production of saccharin and other similar compounds. The purpose of this investigation is to secure information on the comparative production and yield of sulphonamides, and intermediate products, formed from their respective ring hydrocarbons, as benzene and toluene. careful melting point are taken on purified products and solubility curves developed for different solvents. The latter give an interesting basis for comparison"--Introduction, …

Chemical Control Work In The N. K. Fairbanks Factories, John Whittlesey Bodman Jan 1917

Chemical Control Work In The N. K. Fairbanks Factories, John Whittlesey Bodman

Professional Degree Theses

"We propose to discuss in this thesis the organization of the N. K. Fairbank Company, particularly with reference to the duties of the Chemical Division, Operating Department in this organization. From a broad viewpoint, we believe that the particular organization by with the N. K. Fairbank Company secures application of its chemical ability to manufacturing operations as well as to special problems, is characteristic of a widespread movement taking place for recognition of the chemical engineer in industry. This is particularly true in those industries where manufacturing operations are based primarily upon practical applications of chemical principles"--Abstract, page 1.

The Decreasing Of City Garbage And Sewage Sludge, O. Henry Babcock Jun 1916

The Decreasing Of City Garbage And Sewage Sludge, O. Henry Babcock

Bachelors’ Theses

At the present time there seems to be no general solution of the problem of garbage and sewage sludge disposal, and the chances are that there never will be. The problem in each city is different so that no set rule can be given that will apply to every city. Therefore it is an original problem with each city, governed by certain conditions existing there.
