This project is concerned with the importance of parental involvement in children learning to read. Research shows children who view reading as an important and valuable process develop a more positive attitude toward learning to read. Children involved in reading activities at home learn to read earlier and have improved comprehension over children who have no experiences reading in the home. The purpose of the study was to survey IAE majors who graduated from 1976 through 1981 from the ITO. Specifically, graduates were asked to indicate if they had ever held a full-time industrial arts teaching position. Those who did teach were asked to identify if they were currently teaching industrial arts. This project served to develop a teacher manual for teachers of adults at the Bellingham Vocational Technical Institute in Bellingham, Washington. The project was designed to assist in staff development by (1) informing vocational instructors of state and school policies and procedures, (2) identifying new and updated teaching guidelines, and (3) by assisting in orienting new staff to school and vocational education procedures.   1. To develop an in-service workshop to disseminate the Career Exploration Occupational Information for the Junior High/Middle School, A Planning Curriculum Guide, to administrators and instructors in junior high/middle schools.
  2. To develop an in-service package which would be used during the DAVTE workshop which in turn could be used by the participant to in-service personnel in their own LEA workshop.
