Teaching In The Information Age: Leadership Aspects Of Integrated Learning With Technology In Democratic Environments, Patrick Mendis Apr 2003

Teaching In The Information Age: Leadership Aspects Of Integrated Learning With Technology In Democratic Environments, Patrick Mendis

Academic Leadership: The Online Journal (2003-2012)

Teaching as a collaborative enterprise can further be enhanced by the use of integrated learning methods and the infusion of technology. Teacher as a leader must then work as a catalyst to facilitate this learning process. A creation of democratic environment has become increasingly easier with the use of the technology. Yet, the right attitude in leadership and the adaptive challenge are as equally important as the infusion of technology into classroom learning and teaching. Teacher is still the noble master and technology is the revolutionary servant in a more democratic world.

Many of these social issues are controversial in nature and are directly linked to the local, regional, national, and global communities in which we exist. However, including these social issues in the extant curriculum of science has, at best, been limited. This is true even …

The Power Of An Idea..., Illinois Mathematics And Science Academy

IMSA History

It is our privilege to share with you the First Decade Report of the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy, an educational laboratory engaged in serious inquiry about critical issues of teaching and learning.

Ten years ago, IMSA opened its doors with 210 students, 12 faculty members, 21 courses, no residence halls, no computers, no external programs, many unanswered questions and an uncertain future. During our early years, we faced many challenges; these strengthened our resolve and deepened our commitment to transform teaching and learning in mathematics, science and technology.

While IMSA is still a very young enterprise, in ten short …
