Creative Learning: A Curriculum For Preprimary Children: Unit 6: The Five Senses, Marjorie L. Oelerich, Jean Peterson, Meredith S. Ring

Elementary and Literacy Education Department Publications

THE FIVE SENSES is one resource unit. It is hoped to serve as a resource to others as they guide the learning of young children. It is not a cut-and-dried,how-to-do-it book. But it is a collection of numerous learning experiences within the context of a unit setting. The various disciplines are not, and cannot, be separated; learning overlaps. With a central theme, young children will have many opportunities to examine, investigate, explore, experience and discover concepts of meaning. As the children approach the same concept from a number of experiences, they will have opportunities to formulate ideas, to test these …

Communication Modules: Student-Generated Language Arts Projects For Bilingual Education, Annie Katherine Hawkinson Jan 1981

Communication Modules: Student-Generated Language Arts Projects For Bilingual Education, Annie Katherine Hawkinson

MA TESOL Collection

The materials consist of nine curriculum units designed for use with bilingual students at 4th, 5th, and 6th grade levels. Although originally developed for French-English bilingual students, they can be used with any language group, since the learning activities are themselves not language-specific. The language used for each communication project is collected from the students themselves: hence the units themselves can be used with any bilingual group.

The learning activities are also designed to be used in multilevel classes, i.e. classes where students' language proficiency may vary. They of course may also be used in classes where such variation does …

Attitudes Of Freshmen In The Pre-Professional Preparation Program At Central Washington State College, Fredrick Newton Paul

All Master's Theses

This study investigated the effect of the Central Washington State College pre-planned quarter on prospective teacher's attitudes toward pupil-teacher relations. For this study, "attitudes toward pupil-teacher relations" was operationally defined as the score gained on the Minnesota Teacher Attitude Inventory. A key concept introduced by the Pre-Professional Preparation Program at Central Washington State College (in addition to the group living concept) was the actual classroom experience afforded the participants. This was one of the main experiences provided in the pre-planned quarter. If prospective teachers were going to leave college with skills which would give them the best opportunity for teaching …

The Status Of Handwriting Instruction And The Qualifications Of Teachers Of Handwriting In The Elementary And Secondary Schools Of Kentucky, Robert Ashby

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

The major reason for this survey was to secure definite facts and opinions from superintendents, principals and teachers in elementary and secondary schools on the subject of handwriting. 2. The number of special instructors in handwriting, whether part- or full-time and other subjects they teach.
  3. Whether handwriting is taught incidentally with other subjects with no formal lessons, or as a …
