This thesis explores the perceptions of teachers of Arabic as a Foreign Language (AFL) regarding their training needs, with an attempt to examine whether those needs might vary according to the level of teaching experience. It also examines the views and reflections of AFL teachers about their training experiences; highlighting perceived strengths, weaknesses, and preferred training formats. The teaching competence examined in this study are based on the Cambridge Framework (n.d.) and the British Council CPD (1) Framework (2016). This study examines the effectiveness of digital learning media, namely VlogNow and Wordwall, in improving students’ understanding of disaster mitigation material in Geography for eleventh-grade IPS students at MAN Kota Magelang. The school’s location, which is close to landslide-prone areas in Windusari District and within the impact zone of Mount Merapi, underscores the importance of disaster preparedness education. This study investigates the effectiveness of VlogNow and Wordwall in improving students’ cognitive learning outcomes on disaster mitigation. The physical activity levels of university students are decreasing daily due to academic burden and society’s modernisation. This study aimed to investigate the correlation between physical activity, body composition, and physical fitness among university students. The research was carried out in 2024 with a sample totalling N = 354 students, n = 286 (80.8% male), aged 19–27, and n = 68 (19.2% female), aged 19 to 27 (22.84 ± 2.60 in total). The International Physical Activity Questionnaire was used to quantify physical activity levels. Furthermore, the IN-F500 body composition analyser was used to determine body composition. The study aims to explore the role of school evaluation and accreditation in the professional development of science teachers in Al-Majma'ah governorate. The sample consisted of (217) female science teachers in the governorate, and the study followed a descriptive survey methodology. The researcher designed a questionnaire comprising (41) statements across three domains: professional values and responsibilities, professional knowledge, and professional practice. Dr. Pill-Soon Song was born in Osaka, Japan. When he was 13 his family moved back to Korea. Something in his youth must have sparked an interest in science because he enrolled at Seoul National University where he earned a bachelor’s and master’s in agricultural chemistry with an emphasis on biochemistry. Next, he earned a doctorate from the University of California at Davis and did postdoctoral work at Iowa State University in Ames with David Metzler. In 1987, after about 21 years as a faculty member in the chemistry department at Texas Tech University, he joined UNL chemistry as chair …

Stories From Former Foster Youth College Graduates: The Positive Impact Of K-12 Schooling And Related Educational Policy, Amanda Moon, Kristen D. Seay

Faculty and Staff Publications

Youth in foster care face disproportionate challenges when it comes to education and personal well-being. Many studies use a deficit lens when evaluating these challenges. In contrast, this study is asset-based, centering first-person accounts from five former foster youth college graduates. Using a counter-narrative framework, we conducted semi-structured interviews with participants to reveal key supports in K-12 schooling participants believed helped them achieve academic and life milestones. These were relationships with teachers and coaches, access to extracurricular activities, and literacy-rich environments. We also reviewed 11 relevant federal educational policies to identify provisions and implementation needs that aligned with participant experiences. …
