It was the purpose of this study (1) to obtain a cross-section analysis of the eleventh and twelfth grade teachers of literature in the state of Washington; (2) to discover the attitudes of these teaches as to why and how literature should be taught in grades eleven and twelve; (3) to learn how it is actually taught at theses grade levels; (4) to present and analyze these finding; (5) to ascertain which college courses these teachers felt had helped them the most in preparing to teach literature; and (6) to make suggestions that might help the prospective teachers of literature.

The purpose of this study was to survey the commercial curriculum of the high schools of the State of Washington. Of particular emphasis was (1) the number of high school commercial teachers employed; (2) commercial subjects offered, grade level at which offered, and total semesters offered; (3) the availability of business machines; (4) commercial courses least needed, and (5) commercial course subjects that could be added. This survey reveals the common characteristics of the commercial departments of the high schools at this time.

Data were gathered regarding the positions held by mathematics teachers, the sex of mathematics teachers, the salary, experience, tenure, teaching load, combination of mathematics with other subject-matter fields, activities sponsored, and the preparation for teaching of mathematics teachers. Few questions divide educational opinion more acutely than that as to whether boys and girls at the secondary stage should be taught in the same school or in separate schools. Public opinion in Australia is in the same position.
