This study aimed to identify the varied emotions of white, pre-service and first year secondary social studies teachers when facing the possibility of teaching topics of race, especially in the current “anti-CRT” political climate. Using Critical Race Theory and Plutchik’s Wheel of Emotion as a guiding framework, this exploratory, multiple case study employed a variety of qualitative data collection methods and analysis practices. The cross-case analysis, using Constant Comparative Analysis, identified six common themes across the individual cases. School community members help to foster students’ college-going mindsets by creating and facilitating a college-going culture within the school. Based on our findings of a school district composed of a majority ethnically and racially diverse student body, we found the district to be successful in promoting social capital by way of a school stakeholder community. The school stakeholders leveraged social capital to promote a college and career going culture within the context of career pathway programs. This study of five English Language Arts pre-service teachers draws on critical literacy and collective case study methods to examine how they talk about their own experiences with public letter writing as part of their writing methods course and they ways they perceive public letter writing as an activist endeavor. Our findings noted three interwoven themes—agency, advocacy, and focus on students—where participants talked about public letter writing as a way to develop and utilize agency, which allows them to advocate for students, teacher, themselves, education, etc. and to focus on students, especially as it relates to writing and writing instruction. …

Teaching Ai Ethics And Skepticism: The Impact Of Instruction On Ethical Usage On Students’ Perceptions, Jenna D. Justin

This study investigates the ethical implications of artificial intelligence (AI) in K-12 education, focusing on how explicit instruction influences students' perceptions of AI tools like ChatGPT. Conducted with 80 sixth-grade students at A.D. Henderson University School and FAU High School, the research tracks changes in student understanding and skepticism of AI following a World History unit. Pre- and post-instruction surveys revealed a decline in comfort with AI as students became more aware of its ethical concerns, including plagiarism, bias, and misinformation. The findings suggest integrating AI ethics into the middle school curriculum to foster responsible AI usage among students.

This study seeks to extend research in the field by exploring literature examining preservice teachers’ perceptions of community engagement efforts. We then report findings from a thematic analysis of a survey conducted with teacher candidates at a university in the southeastern U.S. who took part in school- and community-based STEM events, and provide implications and suggestions for utilizing community engagement opportunities as a means of enriching preservice teachers’ understandings of local school and community contexts.

Матричная таблица форм глаголов звучания рассматривается как инновационный лексикографический инструмент, обладающий способностью не только фиксировать уже существующие единицы, но и выявлять потенциальные формы глаголов, находящиеся за пределами кодификационных норм. Работа направлена на описание структуры, принципов построения и способов наполнения данной таблицы. Проводится сопоставление с традиционными лексикографическими источниками. Особое внимание уделяется семантическому значению незаполненных ячеек, способности таблицы к синтезу новых форм и её потенциалу как прогностического инструмента в сфере лексики, словообразования и словообразовательного синтеза.

This has resulted in promising opportunities for students with disabilities but also requires careful consideration of accessibility in course design and instructional delivery. This mixed-methods study investigated how stakeholder feedback influences the design of blended courses at North Carolina Virtual Public School (NCVPS), a graduation pathway for students with disabilities requiring significant support. This study researched the six elements of the Holistic Framework for Professional Development (HFPD) to understand administrators’ and teachers’ perceived importance and how demographic variables impacted those perceptions. This was done to contribute to the current gap in the literature regarding how to design and carry out effective professional development. The quantitative survey research utilized exponential, non-discriminative snowball sampling to recruit participants. Fifteen administrators, 64 teachers, and six participants working in ‘other’ roles in their school participated. Though scholarship has long championed the positive impacts of classroom considerations of controversial or difficult issues, teachers have often hesitated to broach divisive topics for numerous reasons, including legislation purporting to limit controversy in classrooms and, often, that they had limited or no preparation to teach controversies, especially not politically contentious sociopolitical contexts.
