Health Work In The Elementary And Grammar Grades And Its Motivation, Alice Thies
Health Work In The Elementary And Grammar Grades And Its Motivation, Alice Thies
Bachelors’ Theses
If we examine a school curriculum made a half century ago, we shall find that the course in health instruction at that time consisted of lessons on bodily structure. Upon examination of later curricula, we shall find a gradual change in content to that of health instruction. Within the last few years, added knowledge concerning nutrition and growth, physical defects with their causes and results, and mental hygiene, has led to the realization that there must be new objectives and principles for the course in school hygiene. By referring to recent books, magazines, and addresses on this subject, I have …

The Relationship Of Principal And Teacher. A Study Of Some Ways Of Improving Teachers In Service, Lillian Caryl Thies
Bachelors’ Theses
The title of this thesis is, ''The Relationship Between Principal and Teacher". Such a title may cover a great field, and instead of a single thesis, volumes might be written adequately to review it. I must therefore narrow the subject down, and after giving a general view of the position of the elementary school principal in the educational field and a sketch of his various powers and duties, I shall consider in more detail some ways in which he may help the elementary teacher to grow and to improve in service. There is gathering upon the subject, "The Principalship", a …

Student Teacher Evaluations Book 2, part 1 for the years 1918 through 1921.
Student teacher reviews exist for all grades and disciplines offered at the WKU Training School at the time. While there are slight differences in review format from one critic teacher to the next, student teachers were critiqued on their appearance, social efficiency and teaching efficiency. The critic teacher added some general remarks and gave a rating:
- E = excellent
- F = fair
- G = good
- V.G. = very good
This notebook has been divided into three parts for presentation on TopScholar in order to make downloads easier. …

The Kindergarten As An Influence In Modern Civilization, Elizabeth Harrison
The Kindergarten As An Influence In Modern Civilization, Elizabeth Harrison
Elizabeth Harrison’s Writings
In this opening lecture given before the Mothers' Department of the Chicago Kindergarten College, Harrison argues that education is no longer "a process by means of which facts are accumulated, but all thoughtful teachers now look upon it as preparation for the future." She also discusses Froebel's theories.
